    Nine year old thread.

    Victory is ours, as owners.

The Co is dead and Polaris won't hardly acknowledge our existence.

What’s a slingshot? I know, the piece of trash that helped Indian kill Victory. Polaris better hope there are lots of buyers who embrace nostalgia to keep the First Nations brand alive.

Merry Christmas! We own Victory now ! What’s better than that. Polaris is scarred for what they let Scott Wino do.

Man, you are right Dean. Did a short dive into book of faces marketplace. A good number of them in the southern part of the state and down in ohio and indiana. I was also surprised at asking prices with most at more than I paid in summer of 2017. Best of luck on your endeavor.

I thought you are a black bike rider. Several black cc and cct on facebook in southern Michigan and other states I referenced. This yellow one is a Cory Ness Signature from 2013 in Scottsburg, In which if memory serves me, is just north of Louisville on the 65 about 20 or 30 miles maybe. No snow down our way. My sister at Secord Lake in Gladwin Cty says they have 6 inches on the ground up your way.

You know what they say: ‘motorcycles come in black for the men. Plus all the other sissy colors for the girls’.

Except their latest, and most successful models, have turned away from copying nostalgia. In favor of copying H-D design cues or Victory design cues. The two best selling Polaris Indians are both taken directly from original Victory designs: Scout and Challenger.

This is true, but there’s more to the story. Polaris took the Octane and replaced the tank and fenders with ones that look just like a Scout from the 30’s and 40’s. Heavy nostalgia. With the Challenger they robbed another Victory design and replaced its bodywork with like you said, imitation Harley bits. But imitating Harley IS imitating nostalgia.

I have noticed in the automotive world, “retro” is a huge seller, for a short period. I’m thinking of cars from recent past like a Chevy HHR, VW New Beetle, Ford Thunderbird, Dodge PT Cruiser...they were all pretty big hits, for a pretty short period of time. Then there are cars like the Mustang that seem more like modern interpretations of retro that get updated every few years and unlike the ones that leaned too heavy on nostalgia it has stayed relevant. I don’t know how directly this applies to motorcycles because obviously Harley has been successful over the long term. But the TS111 Indians... seems like their days are as over as the HHR and PT Cruiser. Riding something that looks like it’s from the 40’s isn’t going to be cool forever.

not to derail this thread, but I had a yellow bike once. Once. Best and worst decision I ever made. Got it because it was different (you can see it in the previous rides thread) and I could easily pick it out in a sea of black H-Ds. BUT, was a hard bike to sell. Took me a little over 4 months to find the right buyer. Even had it listed at a great price. Luckily, the right guy came along, loved it and took it home. Bye bye yellow bike. No mas. Not again.
