I would keep a key with my fob for the bags. I purchased a Ness gas cap to replace the keyed flip stock cap.

I have the DGD. Love it, works flawlessly as a keyless ignition. I need an alarm now though, so I'll likely switch over to the Victory/Scorpio system. I hate the fact I'll have to keep my fob charged with the Victory one, but better that than the annoyance of having a second fob in my pocket just for a standalone alarm I guess.

I ordered the Vic Keyless/Alarm last night. I figured with all the adds/mods I've spend hard earned $ on, I should probably have the pager/alarm with it. Lord knows GEICO won't want to fork over the $xxxx I have extra in it.

I got my Victory unit about a year ago and did the install video to document the difficulty or ease of install. It turns out to be quite easy. I've used it since and here is my review:

*Proximity of unit to engage the ignition is about 5 feet. I can't think of a reason for more or less.
*Alarm sensitivity won't go off when a train or truck rumbles by, but as soon as you get the bike vertical it makes a hell of a racket.
*Fob size is a bit large. But with only the key for the bags and the key for the lower compartments on there it's not too bad. It would be nice if it was smaller and I really don't see the need for the amount of icons on the face.
*Charge time is about 5 hours to full and each charge lasts just over a week. Long enough to not be painful, but also long enough to forget. I highly recommend buying an extra USB charge cable from Scorpio and keep in on your bike at all times.
*I like the fact that it comes with two fobs. One is active to the system and the other requires programming. This is a comfort for keeping a spare on the bike without it leaving you vulnerable for theft.
*The only complaint that I have is there is no way to leave the alarm off without the ignition being active. I'd like to be able to have the alarm off if the garage to keep if from squealing when I move it from one spot to another, but still have the peace of mind that the bike can't be ridden away. It's a small complaint, but it's really the only one I have.

Good luck on your quest and I hope you enjoy what you buy!

There is a way to do this. Friend of mine has this system and he leaves the alarm off in the garage. Take another look at your manual. I can ask him if you still can't find it.

Yes, you can turn the alarm off, but the bike can be started without the fob being present. Sorry if that wasn't clear. It would have been nice to have the ignition deactivated with the alarm off.

DGD here also. I love it and everyone that sees how convienient it is loves it also. No alarm, just simple keyless ignition. Works just like it should. You can get one with a Victory owners discount too.

I have the Vic one. If the system is armed how do you sync the new FOB without setting the alarm off or using the original FOB to de-arm the system?

The Ness cap might be the best and easiest mod I have done. You will love that one Ralex!
