Working with Bob at Utopia, they have developed a drivers backrest and mount for the XC. Remove the seat, remove the passenger strap mount, install the backrest mount, install the seat, install the backrest and adjust to your preferred angle and then go for a ride.

All for only $215!

So I placed an order for one today, but bob is a little leary about sending one out to me here in Canada until he can confirm that the mount would be the same for the XR as it is for the XC. I know the part numbers are the same with the Vic backrests, but can someone confirm that they are identical. Thanks.

This looks interesting. Could you please tell me, how does the forward and backward adjustment work on this unit? Also, does it adjust up and downand flop forward to enable the ease of passenger access? Perhaps if you've got one, some photographs of the unit off the bike could help explain the above questions.

Bored 76,

My dealer took the Victory seat back and bracket off an XR and in the showroom and put them on an XC. It worked just fine. They are the same seats for both models.

There is an adjustment bolt at the base of the backrest which adjust the backrest forwards and backwards and another at the top of the bracket that adjusts the cant. It does not adjust up or down.

This is as good as I can do ya for pics, I cant seem to embed them.

So BOB still has not sold one of these backrests to an XR owner, and I hope someone will scoop one up soon, so he feels better about sending one to Canada after he confirms it does actually fit. Hope one of us VOG.NET'ers does this soon.
Happy riding everone.

I sent Bob an email about your XR.
Thanks. He just wants to make sure that there are no issues and I am glad he cares about customer service and getting things right.

Bob was a joy to work with. One of our chapters is having a poker run in Ohio next month and I hope that I can get over there for it. If I can I intend on stopping by and meeting him.

So no sales to an XR owner yet. I said to just ship it and if there are any problems I would deal with it and let him know what I had to do to make it right. I don't think there will be any issues as the oem ones are identical. Should be here within a month.

You wouldn't happen to live in Ontario, do you? I will be up there from 28 May to 6 June.
I'm in Alberta. A little far to drive just for a backrest. I'll wait for it to be sent next week and I'll have it by mid June. My first long trip will be at the end of June, so i'll have enough time.
Thanks for the offer though.

Picked mine up from the post office today. If it ever stops raining I'll be able to install it and go for a ride to test it out and fine tune the adjustments for comfort.

Hey Bored76 should be nice for the weekend.
Are you doing the Motorcycle Ride For Dad on Saturday?
I'd like to have a look at the backrest.

I did 1400 miles in 2 days with the back rest on and I am glad that I had it. It provides a lot of support and is very comfortable. The back rest is wide enough to provide good lumbar coverage.

No I'm not, I'm working nights this weekend. I should be in edmonton Wed or Thurs next week to plug my bike in and see if the idle air out of range code came back.

As for the seat fit and finish look good and the adjustmets available should make anyone comfortable. The bracketry is for the most part hidden and if you pull it off the bike there is very little left to see on the base mount.
