With all the restrictions imposed on us last year...I had a great year on my Vics. With their awesome reliability, I Installed 4 tire, 4 plugs, cleaned 2 air filters, 8 brake pads, couple cases of oil and filters, 1 battery about 750 gallons of fuel to cover 30,600 miles in 9 states.
Hopefully this year I'll be able to share the road with more bothers and sisters.
Here in my part of Canada was a bit different. In the spring when I got my bike out of hibernation the cops were blocking all roads coming in and out of our city. They would not let you pass unless you had paperwork deeming you an essential worker. So I spent the first month just riding around the neighborhood. Second gear was the highest that I was able to do. A typical day of riding was about 20kms (15 miles). That became boring real quick but what else could I do?
Finally I found a hole in the road that they were not guarding and I managed to slip through. Ha ha ha... I felt like a free animal that could finally run with the wind... 3rd gear, 4th gear and climbing, ha ha ha... It's beautiful, I love it. Finally now I can ride like I was born to do.
I snuck through that hole for the rest of the time that they remained guarding the roads keeping it a secret so as not to spoil it.
I managed to put on 6,500kms (4,000 miles) last year. The lowest that I have ever put on a bike in a year, but it was a year that none of us had ever seen before so I guess it wasn't too bad. I will take it.
For riding this year has sucked for me. Between riots, hurricanes, and covid I had to cancel almost everything I had planned. I think this year I probably put the least amount of miles on the bikes since I've been riding. But I can't complain as I've been getting a regular paycheck. I know many many folks are hurting through all this and will be for a good while after.
Only did about 10,000 miles mostly on the Valkyrie last year due to some other projects. Hope to do more this year. @jmstang302 how long has it been since that freak mishap that left you banged up with both legs broke etc? Kudos to you for the record breaking recovery!
It was 1 leg in 2 places 18 months ago. Yes that was a motivation. My miles have been increasing with each additional bike and the family getting smaller.
The time missed last year seams to of driven me to ride as much as possible. This has me thinking I'm going to need more bikes with 15-20 years left in the saddle.
My worst year since I moved up to a Bagger in 82. Just broke 10g and did 6g of it in last 11 weeks. But cancelled my usual 2 road trips this year. Selling a house building a house and relocating lol plus the pandemic ! Oh well it’s all over for the most part so moving on to 2021 Wishing all a better 21 !
We did around 11k during 2020 so not terrible, we had a really good year, a lil mask wearing & social distance didn’t cramp our style. We embraced it & Yoda willing, 21 is even better for all of us & life doesn’t deal anyone a hand harder than we can play. Here’s to a 75/25 ratio of good times to $hitty moments. I like Jedi’s saying “b happy with what ya got, not sad about what ya don’t “. Cheers
It was actually a great year riding for me. Only one major road so I don't have the room to roam in eight different directions like where I used to live but there's nothing here that's straight. The back roads are 90% twisties which is good. Same amount of hours riding but a third of the mileage. I work part time 5 days out of every two weeks so I have lots of time to hit the road. Drivers here are so bad that in the past I never went out on weekends when the numbers of idiots was up. I never ride in the city and with all the work restrictions last year my riding during the week was all on roads that were almost vacant. It was great.
Highlight of the year was getting off of the Dunlops and on to the Bridgestone Battlecruize tires. An amazing difference on the curvy roads I ride.
Riding in 2020 sucked for me, my company business grew a little over 800% this year. We will playing catch up for quite some time. I have two years left before I retire and I doubt we will be caught up by then.
After retiring in early 2019 My wife and I moved to southern Utah for our retirement. I had 59,000 miles on my XCT. Early last year right before we were to head out on a multi western state ride we usually do every year with our friends my wife slipped off a curb while we were walking and shattered her right radius and ulna and elbow. Trip cancelled and covid allowed me all of 1,000 miles last year. This year we are riding to northern Idaho, across to Montana and back down slowly to home. Can't wait to start putting big miles on again!
@VicVisionBulldog Hey Dog! I'm getting a lowly 25,000 out of each. Hell, the GSX has 71,000 on it now and that is the original clutch. And I ride that bike pretty hard. The Trophy has 14,000 on the clock now and that clutch is like new. So it aint me!
Strange. My 13 has around 50K or so and has the original clutch. I don't know what I have on my 08 but it has the original clutch as well. I think it is around 25-30K....maybe a tad over. Being my commuters that is plenty of time in traffic on them. I also love staying in the friction zone going slow trying not to stop at a light or in slow traffic.
@VicVisionBulldog I know, I don't get it either. I will say that I pull a lot of hills in my travels. I also use the Vision to do practice drills on in the parking lot etc. so there is a lot of friction zone work there. But it's not like I do that all the time.
I do a few tight circles each way each night when leaving work. We have a gate so I go over the pressure pad and then do a few circles while it opens. Like I said I try not to drop a foot. It is a weird game I play but it keeps my skills fresh.
Jeez I got 163,000 on my Harleys clutch. But honestly I’ve never replaced a clutch in my life. And 3 of my Harleys I’ve run over a 100g. Lol with an occasional burn out off the line.

I’ve always liked to fork lock turns to stay sharp. Only bike I couldn’t do it on was my Magnum. Just not happening with the 21” front wheel on there. Lol I attempted it a couple times tho and that was enuff of that !
I need to practice more slow speed. Maybe in the spring when I'm back to riding. I usually do a circle leaving work as I'm waiting for gate to open.
I give up on doing anything fun in 2020. Half my PTO was before July and many things closed until then. I need to get a plan for trips in 2021 but I'm still not sure yet what will be open.
Oops thought I was in a clutch thread!
Miles this year?...Dunno I don't log yearly.
I know I've done plenty of riding this last year though!
2020 was a great year for me!
Met a new lady who ticks ALL the boxes!
Including Big Honkers!
Has motorcycles in her genetics and loves my weirdness.
We sure done some miles going nowhere in particular, on both the Vegas and the XC.
Here we are the day I bought the Dodge
When I’m playin I try for damn near full lock figure 8’s, although I can’t nail them everytime w/o droppin a foot or having to check up on the bars a lil from time to time. The practice has made a huge difference in my comfort level & ability, the tighter the turn the better the burn esp when ur scraping boards @ 5 mph & ur buddies are foot peddling 2 turn around.
