Made some mods to the Rubi.

I took off the steel cable winch and added a synthetic version with a bit more pull. Also added new red shackles for the Rubicon look.

Then I added a shelf in the rear that will also work as a built in dog crate.

Thanks. That's what I was going for. I added a set to the rear as well. Gave a nice pop being the Jeep has a color matched top and fenders. It's a lot of gray.

I've been having problems with my truck lately. All cylinders have over 150psi of compression except cylinder 6. Cylinder 6 only has 25psi of compression. Took it to the dealer from where I bought it at and they are putting g a brand new motor from General Motors in my truck under warranty. My truck has 80k miles on it but I will have a brand new motor. Should be done Monday or Tuesday.

Talk about standing behind a warranty.

Yep! They said a lifter exploded and pieces of metal were in the oil and went thru the motor. At first, I thought they would take the motor apart and fix it. But after they showed me the oil and pieces of metal, not just metal shavings, small pieces of metal, then I realized it would need a whole new motor. Thought they would get a remanufactured motor. But they got a brand new motor from GM. It's has been almost 3 weeks now, since I took my truck in to the dealer, but it's worth the wait. Excited to get my truck back. And kinda impressed that the dealer actually got a new motor from GM for me.

I just got back my 64 El Camino after 26 years. I'm excited to bring it back to life after sitting 12 years in a garage. 64 ElCamino.jpeg

Is this allowed in the truck thread???? Lol, I kid, I kid. Never been a fan of the El Caminos and Rancheros, but glad you got it back and I’m sure you’ll have a great time getting it back into shape!

So we were supposed to go to Vegas for my wife's usual family meet up but with covid still going on they cancelled kinda last minute. I hadn't had a vacation since covid kicked off so I was not staying home. I quickly planned a trip to take the new Jeep to Arkansas and go to a off road park in Hot Springs. We were only there three days but we had a great time. The Jeep did well but I did find some things I need to change.

First the rear tires rub the inner fender when they tuck. They stayed on but I was really expecting one to come off. I've since ordered some high clearance fenders to replace the stock ones. You can see in the pic how they tucked.

Next is the factory rock rail. In the fifth pic you can't see it but there is a rock step that is at least 2.5 ft. I tried going up it but kept sliding over to a deeper part and just didn't have the reach. I came down on the rock rail and though it did it's job and protected the Jeep it crushed a bit at the end. So I've also bought and will be putting on today a set of better rails with a built in step for the wife.

Overall the Jeep did great and really surprised me with how capable they really are. I've done off road driving but nothing like that place. We earned three Jeep Badge of Honor badges there.

I had a buddy join and he's got a 3.5 inch lift running 37s with 5.13 gears. He walked up that step I didn't with ease.
