Hi , I have a 2013 cross country tour with about 11000 miles. This morning I could only shift from neutral to first and could not shift up to second any ideas what could be wrong? I have notice the last couple of days it's been a little harder to shift into second and the noise was louder ( the big bang).

You have a heel shift adapter on it? Maybe not enough room to do a decent engage.

I just found during my 6000 mile oil change and check-list a loose fitting on the shifter shaft from the engine. Worked loose and put some lock tight and retightened. With the floor boards could have shifted out of range from slippage.

    Clutch adjustment? If not hydraulic...

Yes I have a heel shifter. I will have to check. I was so pissed off I haven't look at it closely yet. I have hydraulic for the clutch for about a year now, works well .
    Thanks

Ps, any more ideas would be a big help! I was thinking maybe the ratchet fork could be the problem. Give a men the service manual and he becomes dangerous.

Check the in and out play (axial) of the shifter shaft where it goes through the case into the engine. Also, there may be something in this video that makes better sense than a 2 dimensional manual. Either way, check the entire linkage for loose fittings and sufficient room to move in case it has slipped.

This video was very helpful. knowing now that this could be the problem is very relieving. I will have some time this week to check and I will let everyone know what I find.
    Thanks

Would agree with a check of heel shifter clearance, had same problem after bushing replacement, the shifter was hitting the support. Found I had dropped the washer, (spacer) between the support and shifter, ya kinda gotta hate when your human shows.;)

Obsolete. There is a new and improved shift shaft assembly that eliminates need for washer.

What source can we pick this up from sir.
Was also wondering if any of the newer models already come with it. My 16 Magnum shifts way smoother than my 11 XC does.

The new part was made available 2018 Winter far as I know. At least that is when the part number changed. My Magnum shifts great too. If not at WD I go here. Victory Parts - VictoryParts.net To see the real discounted price you have to add the part to the cart.
