Just wondering...... why not consider a newer Vic ? There are some some seriously great deals out there. Buddy just bought a Behas for his wife. Pristine low miles and way under 5k. When you think about the $2k to start then the money to fix it ? You’ll be buried in a bike no one wants. Good luck and welcome.

I am looking at later bikes now, just found a 2004 that looks just like my old 1999 but with bags and the upgraded motor for 4000 grand. 12,000 miles.

How long did you keep the old motor in your bike before changing the motor?

I was talking 2011 and newer. If you like cruisers then the Gunner or the Highball would be my choice !

I like those bikes too, but can´t spend what those bikes are still going for since I already have a Harley that I´m still making payments on.

I dunno man... the older bikes are definitely different than the newer ones in terms of styling. Depending on the current/previous owners that SC could be in cherry shape. You see guys all the time riding around on 20+ year old HD's and no-one bats an eye. Can't see wanting to own an older V92 style Vic any different. Rylan had an SC with a Vegas front wheel on it and of course engine mods that I would rather have than any production Vic ever made. Beauty is in the eye of the bike-holder. :)

You had me thinking about getting the SC, but someone got it by the time I was ready to make the call. I found a 04 that looks like my 1999 but it has a better motor and bags. It’s dealer bike and they want 4000 grand but I think I could get them down a little.

It had about 26,000 mi. on it. It lost oil pressure, I guess something went wrong with the oil pump. It was also starting to show problems with the transmission. I would get a false neutral when shifting from second to third gear once in a while. I decided it was time to do the freedom motor swap. I still have the original motor and one of these days I will take it apart and see exactly what went wrong. I have a couple of other projects ahead of that one.

I have a 05 harley sporster and it can't hold a candle to my SC in any way, even though it is five years newer.
