Ok I'm as confused as ever... Many of my fellow Vic owners and fellow riders highly rec. Amsoil 20 w 50 over the standard rec. oil by Vic. Even the head mechanic of my Vic Dealership rec. Amsoil and claims no prob with it at all... I own a 2007 Vic Arlen Ness Vegas Jackpot and its been a real gem of a bike no problems at all. After reading some of the thoughts on this site I'm a bit gun shy now so please help a brother out here and lend me your opinions on both. Thanks!
I use Amsoil in all of my 4-wheels vehicles. Love it. Tried it in my Hammer and the clutch hated it. Major slippage. Switched back to the Vic oil and everything was fine again. It just seems like it's a 50/50 shot when running it in a Vic.
I hear u Ironman but I was told that the Amsoil last 5000 miles and quiets engine noise down so I wanted to look into it... Cold feet r setting in so I'm prob going to stick with the Vic oil... I don't like 50-50 odds it will work... Like u said "why screw with it?" Thanks man

I use Amsoil It took the motor from clanking like a tractor to just loud. So it helped. On my 3rd change now. If you do it judge your change times with the ease of shifting. If it gets tight at the shifter or lourder change it. I get about 4000.
If Polaris wanted Amsoil in their bikes they would have put it there in the factory. The cheap stuff, Rotella runs wet clutches just fine too.
You hardly ever meet a Terrapins fan from New Enland. Thanks we like 'em. Those Ninja Turtles fellas on the left coast are a whole other story though. I blame the Marijuana,,,,, Keith

No need to get scarred or cold feet. If you want to try it go for it. If you don't like it switch back. Here's what I can tell you from my experience. I never had a problem with Vic oil and I've never heard anyone complain of a problem with Vic oil. I have used amsoil, did not have clutch slipage and it did last longer. It "seems" to quiet down the trans and make shifting smoother, but then again if I take out old Vic oil and put in fresh Vic oil the trans quiets down and shifts smoother too. While I have not had a problem I have heard of others complaining about clutch slippage. Either way this really isn't a situation to fret over. If you cut the rear frame off the bike for a Conquest conversion there's no going back later. If you try a different oil or tire you can always go back if you decide you don't like it. Oh and Conquest conversions are AWESOME. You should definitely do that!
Well, semi-syn ain't 50/50. By API stds it can contain no more than 30% syn. Also, I've noticed that more & more oils are appearing on the shelves as semi-syn. Just an observation.
I use Fred Flintstone's Slippery Slick Stuff. Works better because the Dyno oil is fresher.
