Just wondering if anybody had ever tried or heard of replacing the stock shock on a jackpot with one off a hammer or vegas. Would raise the bike a bit but maybe soften some of the spine busting bumps. Gotta come up with something so I can take a cross-USA ride when I get back from deployment. Love the bike....except for the ride

Have you set the shock up to fit your weight & what you are carrying?

buy a Penske shock from Conquest customs or Progressive shock from Witchdoctors or Lloydz.

it could be due to the short stroke on the suspension which no shock will fix.

Everyone will have their own favorites but check out Progressive Suspensions. They offer a stock length and a "long" version. Order it with the heavy duty spring and it will really improve the ride. I have used progressive products on all of my past bikes and have always had good results. Greg

Witchdoctor sells the Progressive shock. I have one on my KP and love it. http://buywitchdoctors.com/p/716/Victory-Suspension-Drivetrain-Progressive-Suspension-Shock-Absorber/

Not putting down or criticizing the Penske shock but I have the Kewlmetal air ride and it is absolutely awesome. Since it has dual chambers you can set the rebound. I can set it for a floaty ride or make it as stiff as a rigid frame bike. When I ride solo she is mean and lean when Angel rides with me I just pump it up and we are good for the day!

If you already tried adjusting the spring, you could try changing out the links. My hammer has been lowered with links but I had to stiffen up the spring to stop from bottoming out,(less shock travel). Going back to original now to increase the amount of available travel and have to re-adjust the spring rate. Rides to hard.

Thanks for the input. I have messed around with the preload, but it rides hard with or without the wife. I have heard mixed reviews on the air shock option. Was it a difficult install?

i am researching shocks for my 13 hammer, longer shocks are better for sure so if a hammer s longer shock fits it may help cheaply as used ones may be available, only options i seen so far are progressive + penske$$, open to options for sure

Travel isn't going to dictate soley the ride. In my opinion the hammer is a little stiffer then the Jackpot. I've riden a lot of Hammers. Never used the Penske but never heard any negative about them. Your other option is air ride. Had air ride on my JP for 5 years and it was great.

Penske's are the way to go, best shock you can buy for your bike! It prefroms much better than stock and is insanely more comfortable! Give us a ring if you have ANY question's about them, we would be more than happy to help you!
