Good on you. I was wanting to go, but man that wind was blowing at 30 and gusting at 40. Around here in total farm country there is no wind blocks at all with the corn all down, and we have no woods or valleys like you. Looked at my phone and weather predicted SW winds at 10 to 15 today. Nice pic of the sunset.

not too much time left up here but was out yesterday for about 100 mi's. drove past this relic out in a field and the sun was hitting it just right and it looked pretty wild. by the time i worked my way down there the sun had disappeared ( figures ), but i took the pic anyway :ride: 126315408_161465685655953_5591194520575733794_n.jpg

Stuff like that makes ya wonder, life was just tougher period back then. The wheel was prob used for many things since was the diesel engine of the time. Amazing how ingenious the human population can be, every problem has a solution.

man, i feel your pain its all farmland where i l;ive mostly. ya can see for miles so o wind stops or valleys. makes for horrendous riding in the spring and fall when seasons are changing. have seen 70 mph winds here.30 to 40 mph sustained.

Really, I would not have thought that about Arkansas, but I always think in terms of the Ozarks and Ouachita Mountain regions. There is a benefit though. With crops down in the later fall and spring and lack of big forested areas, one can see a long way off the road and fear of deer and other critters running in front of me is very minimal. I have had two cases of a deer blasting at full speed out of summer corn ( corn gets 9 to 12 foot high here ) that shook me up before. Also the towns are small and traffic quite light.

arkansas is quite diverse in its topography. over here in the delta its flat. nw is mountains sw [texarkana is like east texas. se is like louisiana , swampy lowlands flat withlarge stands of timber for georgia pacific. we have a lot of corn here on the east side of the state[mississippi delta] also, cotton .wheat .soy beans ,milo, and, lots of rice!!!! which makes for gajillions of SKEETERS!!!! HATE THEM!!!!
