I see it like this, and it's because when I was a kid, the Harley and the American flag were hand in hand.
So, let's say you have a beautiful wife. Trophy wife. You take her around, show her off. Nothing but pride.
But then one day, times just got too tough for her and she split.
TO YOUR WORST ENEMY. She turned, stuck up her middle finger and jumped on this fu€kers lap.
They have kids. Not the best kids you know, they leak n all.
Then years later, she comes knockin on your door with a handful of t shirts.
First of all, do you take her back?
    But secondly, if you do,
Are you still gonna be as proud of her? No.
    Then we have the Indian.
Times got hard, so they shut the doors . So after all is said and done, they could open back up and will have kept it American.
Get down with your bad self.
    PRIDE !!!
(got the 49cc indian 71 when i was about 4. One day i will get another. Close as i can get right now is the Victory Vegas 8 Ball.
    100% American, makers of Indian.
    Cool with me)

Put the issue in perspective with that nice analogy. But you were happily married to her sister and she walks and took an axe to the current love of your life, leaving you with only the time it will take for her to bleed out...

She then turns to say, “I will be in the next room, naked in the bed shining my chrome, waiting.” Oh and bring cash and don’t expect me to be good as she was!”

Yeah i got that, but in my vivid morbid sense of humor all i could see is that pretty blood red victory and no more &itches to deal with. And like a &itch, the only thing anyone else will see is her ass.

Yes the pretty ones will often be the worse. But the Victory just shines above them all as a "full package deal". With looks, dependability and strong enough to make HD go back to the gym. Indian, well she may have the goods at times, but hard to go with when you know her Parents. They have favorites and a history of throwing some siblings out the door, leaving you to pay for the marriage...

Uh oh. I feel a "Some ride Victories and some ride Indians" thread coming on. Is that still legal in here?

You bet as I almost bought, within seconds, a Springfield before the Great Betrayal. It was going to share garage space with the Victory, but my hiney got hurt and well the deal didn’t go down. But I do take a peek every now and then, but...

When that Springfield first came out I was sold. Then I rode one and determined it was the best motorcycle I’ve ever ridden. Even today I would love to own one in all its classic full flared glory. Like the Road Kings ……. A real classic. Truly one of Indians best accomplishments.

Should they shut their doors? Not a question of if, but when it will happen. They're 8 model years in & I would put the over/under at 15 years & take the under. European sales will keep it going for a while but Indian's legacy of failure will be maintained by the Polaris bean counters when they're done wringing the last drops out of the investment.

I agree as I took a Vintage out and compared it to the CCT as I was going to get one or the other. The Springfield came out and i was sold. The CCT handled better by lacked the low end torque of the Indiana and having a Boardy, I liked the grunt.

But like I said, the loyalty was put to the test...
