Has anyone tried to use the rear shock off a Cross Country to replace the one on their Vision. They look identical but the part number on my Vision ends in 03 and the one for the Cross Country ends in 05

Probably would work but I'm betting the spring rate and dampening are different.

I can not say I remember ever seeing that done.

Most of us when we need a Vision shock go with the Penske. @PreachSF can get you one custom built by Conquest Customs.

Few would know better than VVB on this forum about the Vision. If you need a new rear shock you essentially have three options:

    1. Penske aftermarket, check pricing with Conquest Customs.
    2. Used oem, I got an excellent used oem CCT rear shock for around $225 delivered. But my oem rear shock at 88K is still working fine.
    3. New oem, check online for pricing. Should be around $570 plus shipping.

I love the easy adjustability of the oem design. Many have had issues with there oem rear shock leaking oil. It 'could' be due to not enough air in the system. Regardless of what the CCT psi suggestion is, the oem shock is an air/oil system and simply needs enough air in the system to work properly. I'd suggest never having less than 35psi to 40psi in the rear shock. I'd 'guess' the Vision would be about the same. I have no idea what the actual difference is between the Vision and the CR/CC/CCT rear shock.

PS - Welcome to the forum. This is THE PLACE to be for anything and everything Victory Motorcycles related. Plus a few other topics we like to beat to death and argue a bit about. There are some really great people on this forum, plus a few others that are good for a laugh or two. :)

Really appreciate your insight. So far the best price I found on new shock(not including linkage) was $725. Friend has the one off the cross country that is in great condition he is willing to give me along with linkage and swing arm etc. I did find a used OEM shock for a Vision on eBay that matches part number. I have just started to research Penske options.

They build it to your spec asking the bike and loadout weight. I have one on my 13 after the stock shock blew out hitting a large pothole. It had always had a slow leak and the pot hole killed it. I went with the Penske and have been very happy with it. I enjoy not having to put air in it and really find it a great shock. It was a bit stiff at first but broke in nicely and I have zero complaints.
