Well I would hate to breck everyones ballon but there is not nor ott there be anything more exalted on Gods great earth than the burger from the Pina Colada resteraunt in Rincon de Guayabitos on hyway 200 80 klms north of PV Mexico.
Some people prefer others I for one care less for them as the burger prepared by the illustrious Mina is simply to die for.
Now I mean no disrespect for those others nor do I wish them any ill will but after one has indulged in a Pina Colada burger you have been simply to heaven.
Enough said !!

Andy-there are no In-N-Out locations in Chicago......you are correct that they are only in the west. They are just now getting Sonic Drive-ins in the midwest.
If you mean just 10 years ago, your right... we arejust now getting Sonic Drive-ins.
Neither my boy or I like their food.
Love me some B-Bops! No inside seating, its all drive-up or order at the window. Great burgers and chicken sandwich w/ cheese. Shakes aren't bad either.
Central Iowa only... http://www.b-bops.com/

Since I am in Nor-Cal I would have to say that In-N-Out is a great place for burgers. We have them all the time (Besides, my daughter works there). Now I just read in today's paper that Five Guys will be opening here next month. I guess I will have to check them out. We will see whose better. (Sorry Andy, I guess we will have the best of both here in Nor-Cal LOL!)
Just had my first 5 guys burger. I have to say it was pretty good. I think the burger was better then In N Out only because you can get BACON. And I love bacon on a burger. The fries are good because I like the thicker cut ones. However they give you WAY too many. Did not come close to finishing them. So now it's going to come down to how I feel for the day. Is it a 5 guys day or In N Out day? Isn't having choices great :)

Five Guys just opened up on near my house. OMG they make Sonic or In and Out look look like McDonalds. That is one of the best burgers and fries I have ever had. Imagine a franchise that made me feel good about dropping $10 bucks on a burger, fries and a cold drink? Whodathunkit?

Five Guys do not have freezers in the stores. Nothing but fresh food.

Ironhorseman has the right idea.....Cheeseburger in Paradise

I love the original location in Maui.....nothing beats watching the sun go down over Lanai while eating a great burger. Bliss.....
.....................................................................................................................................
Sooo true, the original cheese burgers in paradise in lahaina, maui was & still is a really great place to eat and dont forget the "double-trouble" rum drink they make, really "ono" food, plus you get to look at the sun setting on Lanai, pretty hard to beat that.
When I was in high school I used to work at the in-n-out on foothill blvd in pasadena,ca.....loved the burgers, but not the fries....anyway the manager
Dewey king says to me "hey wat-ya gonna do for a career after ya get outta
high school????, so I tell'em I'm gonna be a mechanic, then he asks me if I know how much $$$ he makes a year??? no I say.....$100,000.00 a year as a manager
for in-n-out...that was 1970, man I wished I woulda listened to him!!!!!

I think that restaurant is here in Arizona Andy. They had an obese guy as their spokesman, but he died of heart disease earlier this year.....I'd say ironic, but not really. On a side note, I had 5 Guys this week. While it was very good, I would have to rank Smash Burger ahead of them just a little. I still rate Smash Burger best, then In-N-Out, then 5 Guys a strong 3rd........As for Sonic, I always order their Chilli dogs so hard for me to compare their burgers. On a Side-Side note, While I was in Utah 2 weeks ago, I found one of the diners that they previewed on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives with Guy Fieri. The name of the place is Moochies. They are a family from Philadelphia that moved to SLC and opened a real Philly sandwich joint. Their specialties are the Philly Cheesesteak (surprise) and their homemade meatball and marinara sandwich....I had to order BOTH....just for research purposes. :) When I ordered I noticed that they were advertising the meatball marinara sandwich as "Guy Fieri's favorite", and they were right on the money with that one! One of the best sandwiches I have ever had. As for the Philly Cheesesteak, I was not that impressed...definitely had better......but the meatball marinara makes this place a MUST STOP if you happen to be in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Well, in the Akron Ohio area we quite a few that deserve Props.. -Rays Place, a main stay in Kent, home of the MO FO Burger...The Burger made some show on the Food Chanel...I think it was My Favorite Foods.. - The Ido Cafe, On Main St. right across the Street from the old Firestone Plant.. -Main Street Saloon, Just down the road from the Ido..A true Biker Bar..But great Burgers and they run .99 cent burger specials all the time. Now if you live in the Akron area, and you love Burgers you have to stop at Skyway and Swensons..These two places are legendary for there burgers...If you ask anyone from the area which one is better you will get an argument.. These two Burger joints are drive up only..If you want service you have to turn on your head lights..If don't turn on the headlights you get no service, and the burgers at both places are some of the best I have ever had...

Not a Chain but AWESOME! There is a little hole in the wall in Miesville, Minnesota called Kings. It is about 1/2 mile up the road from the Miesville Mudhens Baseball Field. Which I might add would rival the "Field of Dreams" ball field of movie fame. Imagine this: They have the cattle grown and fed to their specs, then grind the entire cow to include the rib section which includes the TBone and Filet Mignon portions of meat in their ground beef. Now imagine cooking a double or, Oh What the Hell a Triple Patty. Then add two Hard Fried Eggs and then just for fun add two sliced All Beef Grilled Hot Dogs on the top of the two patties and two fried eggs. Now just for fun add a slice or two of american or swiss cheese and mushrooms. But wait, don't forget the 4 Thick slices of Heavily Smoked Bacon and a slice or two of Canadian Bacon. PS:1 Smoked Pork Chop instead of Fries? Your Choice, but that would be considered a basket. Need I say more?

Chilis makes great burgers - their peppercorn burger is to die for good... Locally there are several great burger bars - one of my favs is the Red Dirt Saloon in Forestville, CA. They have a "three penny burger" back in gold rush times 3 penny was 1/3 of a pound of gold - thus a 1/3rd pound hand formed black angus burger on home made bread with steak fries -- heck, now I am getting hungry! Also Bones Road house in Pleasent Valley, CA make great burgers and BLTs.

I tried a new burger place today. It's appropriately named Grease. Here's a photo of the Grease Burger and Fries:
In case you can't read the "branded" bun, here's a closer look:
Even more interesting, check out the new restaurant that will soon be opening next door...
I'm not even going to try to pronounce it!
