@CTGunner, you're certainly breaking the trend by moving into New York while so many people are moving out. But yea, looks like an oem exhaust system is in your future. Places like Pinwall in Ohio, eBay, the Victory forums, Facebook etc should be able to help you get a replacement exhaust system. The cost is just another one of the New York 'taxes' you get to participate in.

The Tri-Oval system conforms to SEMA 2825 levels for motorcycles. The levels police services who use the SEMA noise meters adhere to. I carry copies of the tri oval system in the accessory book from 2012 in my trunk in case I get stopped and tested. If you can’t trust Polaris, who can you trust? Don’t answer.

    Easy fix….quick release baffles.

I tried to see what the actual specs were, but the linked post was just generalizations. What’s the actual bill say? DB limit? Stamped with “for off-road use only”? Only OEM exhaust systems allowed?

I left NY in 1998 at 28 years old and never looked back. I moved in Dallas for 10 years (Loved it!) and then moved here to VA to be with the love of my life. I have ZERO desire to ever live there again. My buddy and I compared notes - He lives in the sticks of upstate NY and pays over double in taxes for a house that is smaller than mine on about half the property.

All those taxes and somehow they have the worst roads I've ever been on. :rm_thumbdown:

The only thing I miss about NY is my friends. I drive up there twice a year to see them. We've all known each other since we were little kids. I think I was 9 when we met. If it weren't for them I would never return. Well... maybe for some Mountain Brauhaus, but that's IT!

Some people love NY. I just don't get it.

CCT is being considered...that or an Indian.

Either way though, they are taking the fun out of owning a bike. Mods are a way of life ;-)

I lived in the NYC- South Bronx from 55 to 85. Then moved to Chicago. I loved growing up there. Best street education I could have ever gotten. Only thing I miss is the food and family. Rode back every summer since I left but was only 800 miles out. Now at 2800 out it’s probably not gonna happen as often or maybe not at all ridin wise. Hopefully your not in the city.

I moved out of NY in 2016, I have to go back frequently for work and absolutely hate it, for reasons such as this. However I read your link. This is what concerns me. "Maximum fines for installing illegal equipment will be raised to $1,000, an $850 increase. " What makes your exhaust illegal. The article mentions modify an exhaust system, which would mean removing the baffles of an existing exhaust. But where does it say installing an aftermarket exhaust is illegal? I have only ever seen after market exhausts specifically stating they are illegal in CA but never anywhere else.

    Bill Text:

    (B) NO PERSON SHALL, IN THE STATE, SELL, OFFER FOR SALE OR INSTALL ANY
OF THE FOLLOWING FOR THE MUFFLER OR EXHAUST SYSTEM OF A MOTOR VEHICLE:
A CUT-OUT, BYPASS, OR A SIMILAR DEVICE WHICH WILL AMPLIFY OR INCREASE
THE NOISE EMITTED BY THE MOTOR OR EXHAUST SYSTEM OF SUCH VEHICLE ABOVE
THAT EMITTED BY THE MUFFLER OR EXHAUST SYSTEM ORIGINALLY INSTALLED ON
    THE VEHICLE.

    And:

Cars are limited to 76 decibels if travel-ing 35 mph or less and 82 decibels if traveling faster, and motorcycles
are limited to 82 decibels if traveling 35 mph or less and 86 decibels
if faster. Finally, this bill requires all police vehicles to be
    equipped with a decibel-reading device
. This will make it easier for
police officers to enforce the law, and give them a valuable tool for
removing excessively noisy and polluting vehicles from our streets.

    The limits are ridiculous

I hate it when people no different then myself try to tell me what I can and can not do. I’m partial to Vance & Hines myself. And if I still lived there I guarantee I’d be running them whether or not they fit their plan. But that’s just me. Rules I’ve had enough of them
