i am planning on buying the swept pipes for my 09 vegas, Do i need to have the engine tuned by the dealer after install or can i just install them and let the cpu self tune the engine? I over heard a harley guy say you can just start the engie a few times and it will set itself to work with the new pipes.

You will need to buy a stage 1 map from your dealer and have him install it. The Victory bikes do not self adjust. If you do not re-map you will probably start to backfire and pop. You might as well buy a new air filter while you are at it, otherwise you have increased your exhaust without increasing your airflow.

Go the next step. Get an S&S airbox and have them down load the S&S map!!

I was planning on purchasing the victory swept pipes for my 08 jackpot, when at the suggestion of kevinx i took a look at the NEW sweptness pipes from arlen ness, Thank you Kevin. He pointed out to me that the sweptness have better performance numbers and have that same swept look. The sound is seriously off the charts awesome, i get tons of compliments on the look and sound of my pipes. Well anyways as everyone knows aftermarket pipes lead to.....you guessed it popping. Today I had the s&s air intake installed, the dealership I went to (Bill's Service Center in Stratford, WI.) installed the intake as well as did the remapping using the s&s map. This dealership is 2 and a half hours from my home in Green Bay (Go Pack Go!) so I figured it would be a great test to see how bad the popping was. I heard 1 pop the entire ride home and it was on acceleration, I was riding it trying to make it pop and nothing. The grin on my face was ear to ear! I HIGHLY recommend this setup to everyone who is looking, I loved my bike with the popping but i love it so much more without it.

This is a three part process as far as I see,
Never mind doing two thirds of the puzzle, do cams too.More air needs more fuel and exhaust, my 0.02 cents
Regards
If you do the cams you would also need a controller. I only ran S&S on my 07 Hammer S and was very pleased with the results, although I am a fan of the cams in my Vision!!.

Advice from a harley guy? Not sure what he might know about the swept pipes, but if for some "A" typical reason you develop an oil leak, I would get back with him. Why are you getting rid of the swepts?
