Good luck to ‘em. The article was a bit vague, I don’t think Eric Buell has anything to do with this company. I’m pretty sure somebody bought the rights in bankruptcy court and is restarting production with promises of future models. Last I heard Eric Buell partnered with an eBike company to design bikes for a company named Fuell.

Well I'll be. Didn't see that one coming! Especially the insinuation of having all kinds of models available. This has always been his thing though, a million different versions of something as he thinks of ways to make it better!

Well, I wish him well. I wish he would make a more classic Sport Touring bike. I hate these stupid ADV looking things that aren't ADV bikes, they are passing them off as the new Sport Tourers. No screw you, that is not a Sport Tourer! The FJR, that is a SP; The Concours 14, that is a SP; You get my drift. Build a great American Sport Touring Machine Like what Motus started out to do before they got greedy... Offer a nice comfy upright riding experience with great sport style and performance, but ditch the predatory pricing and deliver a bike that riders can actually afford. $37,000 for a Motus was straight up thievery, which is why they failed. The bike itself was really good.

We will see what he decides to do this time!

I wondered about that as well.

"Buell pointed out it's not stuck in the superbike segment. It will expand its range of models to include dirt, dual-sport, touring, and cruiser models, and it will add medium- and small-displacement engines to its arsenal to make its bikes accessible to a wider audience."

So was that Buell, the man himself saying this, or was it Buell the newly re-established company saying this? Hard to tell.

Erik Buell says he has nothing to do with the company.

They are sourcing the motors from BRP Rotax. Which is probably a larger version of what's in the CanAm Spyders.
They make very reliable powertrains so this is a big plus.
But do we need another Motorcycle manufacturer when US sales are declining and other MFG's are hurting?

Erik Buell started a EV Motorcycle company. Probably has more legs than Buell!

I do not understand marketing, and so... that is why I suppose I do not understand why so many models.

If it was me - and I am me - "I" for short - it seems like ..... make one model, with some add ons.
Start say, with a 1400 cc motor.
Decide that it can be ordered in versions...
    one seat
    two seats
    Soft bags
    hard bags
    no bags
    etc etc etc
    Then make it bullet proof.
Then quit changing it every year.
    Think.... original VW Beetle.

OK OK OK I know, I am BORING! hahahaha

Found some more info. This is not Erik Buell. This new company was formed in 2016 when assets were purchased from bankruptcy. Then recently rights to the name were aquired to go along with the assets. This is the same as the Indian name being bounced around from company to company. I still wish them well, but I think this guy chose a tough row to hoe.
Buell is back and planning an adventure-touring motorcycle - RevZilla

Interesting. I think Erik had some great ideas but as a business venture, his name is more often associated with failure than success. I could certainly be wrong but I’m not sure using Buell as a brand in name only, without actual activity from the man himself, seems like a dubious venture.

As it becomes widely known that Erik Buell isn’t involved, wouldn’t that fact lead his fans to ask what’s the point. This seems much worse than Polaris buying the Indian Motorcycle name and building on it. Because Erik Buell is still alive and well and doing something else.

Even the story heading seems false as Erik Buell isn’t ’resuming’ production if he isn’t even involved with the company.

“What a tangled web we weave when we practice to deceive.”

Agree. My thoughts were if you acquire the assets, and the rights, then you can build the bikes under any name you choose. Rebrand it the “Melvin Motorcycle Company” or whatever the dude wants to call it. Then if you want a nod to the origins of the machine, rename the model the EB1190.

The Buell 1125's and EBR 's had Rotax engines.

This entire endeavor seems to be built on a house of cards and so it seems seems the Buell name is once again destined to fail.
