It was all on the bike. The light green trace is solo to Missouri. I only had five days to get to my family reunion so I didn't get to do much sight seeing on the way there. Two of my cousins have never seen mountains above 6600 ft. (Mt. Mitchell) so I convinced them to go to Eagles Nest NM. One of the cousins bike broke down 100 miles from home so he didn't make it. The other cousin and I went to Eagles Nest and spun in circles for about 5 days then he went home and I continued on the rest of the trip (The black trace.) Below is a link to the trip. The pics never do justice for the beauty of this grate nation.

Great little road trip on the Vic

Out here in Cali, you can get most of your DMV paperwork done at AAA so that is a great time saver and I use their maps and have only used their towing once in about 10 years. I upgraded to their premium package when I retired and started traveling more. I forget the cost but liked the benefits it offered so I carry it.

in the olden days aaa would create "flip maps" for me...i would tell them where i was going and they would put together a series of maps like a spiral notebook...each map would have sub-maps following it with close ups in difficult areas around cities...zing of the long a aging road...

    early to mid 70's as i recall...zp...

im12...in michigan they have a seperate registration fee and tags for everything with a wheel if it hits one of their highways, roadways, dirt roads, or snake paths...you got a wheel, we got a tag...we can renew online but why miss the wonder that is the secretary of state's local office...tip: make an appointment online before you go in or they'll put you in the "special line"...zing of the wild frontier...

@zingpow ...I do all I can on-line and love it. BUT, I will say, here in Houghton Lake, MI, I did like going there, I was use to 50+ people in line when lived in Oakland County. Here, IF there's 3 in front of me, I happily sit and wait the 5-10 minutes. I'm still waiting for WhitBitCh to take away my permanent trailer plate and have to buy one every year for each trailer. One I have now has more miles BETWEEN each trailer, that needs a plate to move....3 trailers, use to have 5. (money saved=money earned):cool018:

im12...houghton lake, haven't fished there since i was in my 20's...found steelhead in the rivers on the west side of the state and lost my mind...i had two boat, motor, trailer combos, the motorcycle trailer and a utility trailer...all the tags came due at the same time and how lovely the forever tags are now...down to the motorcycle trailer and it has the forever tags on it...zp...

ps...covid cleared the lines out of our dmv...in and out in less than a half hour unless it's between 10am and 3pm (their lunch break)...zp...

I gotta respectfully disagree ZP, I’m mighty found of the pink snapper myself, like my pappy always said, if it smells like fish it’s a tasty dish & if it smells like cologne leave it alone...

Next time I fly across the country I'm going to demand the pilot of the jet liner to show me he's using a paper map to get to our destination! Let them know I don't trust their electronic navigation and I have plenty of experts here to support that belief! :naughty:
