Mass Airflow Sensor ? or is it Manifold Absolute Pressure? Either way ,
Any idea where it/they would be on an 06 Kingpin fitted with Torque Tubes???
Cos this/these could possibly be affecting the way my bike runs.
It has a PCIII
(Power Commander 3)
New TPS(a'la' LS1 Chev) should arrive in a few day🤞
Hoping that'll fix my stumbling erratic at times idle.....🤞
Lots of crossed fingers hey!
At the end of the day too I realise I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and spring for a pro Dyno Tune with Fred at ProCycle..
But no point taking it there while there's other factors affecting performance, or it could be money down the drain , and dyno tunes ain't cheap!...good ones anyway.

Now from my memory,
(which is flawed from 27 years of alcoholism)
(Last week I turned 24 years sober from alcohol)
But memory isn't the best,
Plus I'm getting old, which could also be a by product of me stopping drinking 😂
Anyway a few years ago I fitted Torque Tubes to my then 2010 Vegas and there was a sensor of some sort in the air box somewhere I recall, and with Torque Tubes it had to just live under the tank somewhere instead.

Now back to the 2006 Kingpin

Wondering if that was/is, it/they, and I'm gonna have to pull the fuel tank off again and have another better look around under there.
Gonna need to , to replace my TPS unit , the LS1 Chev part that I've already ordered.
Asked about such on another thread, but it was an old thread and some folks here get upset when I get the shovel out and start exhuming old threads.
So here's a nice fresh, not so bad on the nose thread/post/whatever...🙂

Your MAP has been removed.
With the torque tubes, PC3 and dyno tuned it was superfluous, (I've been waiting years to use that word).
The pre '08 models didn't need it with your set up.
SUPER!- fluous😂

Ok, your MAP sensor, would mount in the stock air box. With the torque tubes the MAP sensor is removed from the stock air box and just zip tied out of the way(same thing for the air intake temp sensor.

The MAP sensor reads vacuum in the air track that measure manifold pressure drop and will drive fuel requires based on map readings vs rpm from the volumetric efficiency (VE) table. When the map sensor is located outside of the air tract it still reads absolute pressure (i.e. changes in altitude/ weather conditions) with the PC3 it changes the tuning from VE based to Alpha-N throttle position over rpm.

However since the map sensor is providing outside air pressure, it corrects to the base VE fuel table outisde preasure and the PC3/5/6 fuel map adds / subtracts fuel onto of the base map adjusted from the sensor.

All this means that yes a bad map sensor could still cause issues, but thatbwould not be my first guess. You can test the map sensor, outlined in the service manual I believe.

I would suspect that the TPS is acting up, but that can also be tested with a voltmeter as well. 0-5v system. One wire will be a constant 5v, one is the ground and the third is output voltage. With the key on and engine run switch on, closed throttle voltage should be around .85-.92 ish. as you slowly roll the the throttle wot it should sweep to 4.5ish volts. If you hold the throttle at the position the bike stumbles you can read the v
tps output voltage. If it is staying somewhat steady the its fine is it is jumping all over the place the tps is likely bad.

Wait, it you have a computer to hook to the pc3 you can read the tps count on the computer and that will do the same thing as a voltmeter, except the it does not read voltage on the pc3 its counts I think.

Lastly, the bike should not need to be retuned, sounds like something else going on, sensor or electrical.

The only thing that would cause the bike to need a tune is the ecm is going wacky, then retuning is covering up/bandaid fixing the ecm issue.

Hope this helps some.

Thanks mate! @RT Thor , thx for the info to fill in a few blanks.
I'll add there's a change from the Lope Kit modified TB Boot back to stock TB Boot, the bike required extra tuning to dial in the Lope mod.
Now it's gone the tune is out of whack.

Read your post on the Vic Shop. Did you a throttle point reset to calibrate the new tps sensor?

Key on engine switch on roll the throttle 5 seconds to full open hold wot for 5 seconds then let throttle snap shut and then key off. You can do that acouple of times.

Thanks, yes I did , many times.
Then I find out that that trick don't work on the early Vic's.
Has to be done via Digital Wrench or the Dyno man could do it as well the current tech at my local Indian dealer informed me.
He could have done it but said Fred at ProCycle Dyno could do it same time as he tunes it.
I'm booked in for Feb 24 , that's the earliest as his missus is having a baby and he's taking time off.
Fortunately I have my XC to ride as well as my Time Capsule '74 XS650.
So I don't suffer withdrawals.
Well not too badly anyway😎

The state of the road does that.
This was a good section that's why I stopped , well also was Tryna find a good skinny dipping spot but alas not enough water in the creek and too far down...
