I am in the market to buy a 3rdgear Customs Intake '08 & up. Installing on a 2013 Highball. Even willing to look at used ones just in case someone wants a good excuse to go to Torque Tubes. Figure I would try here before i get ahold of Alan. Thank you all

Here is one from 2018 year. This is a more of a radical bike. 2002 V92 Rectangle Slope Font Parallel Plot
100", 11.2 compression, .495 cams, RPM Thor 2-1 exhaust. Compared the S&S, Tti and a 3rd Gears intakes.

Last one is a 03 V92 with Zoomies. 99 style intake vs the 3rd Gears.

Will say that the 3rd gears intake is a lot more work to install than a S&S and the TTi. On V92s it is much worse. Have to shim the gas tank up a half inch to clear the intake.

Thank you! I hadn't seen these results as yet. I've always been interested in 3rd Gear.. I have a 100" 07 Kp that is using a 99 style intake and always wanted to replace it. I thought it interesting in your last graph how there is a boost at around 3000 rpm but it lags a bit up until the top of the range. Seems to me that you are getting some of the torque tube effect down low but doesn't flow as much at higher capacities maybe?

Those Zoomies and the Third Gear intake system really make the 92 engine come alive from 2,500-3,500 RPMs.

The 3rd gear does pretty good. Not as strong as Tti below 4000 or so but a bit better up top. It is a far amount cheaper, but not as simple install. Especially on a V92.

It really is all about rider choice regarding were one l likes their power delivery.

Both are solid intakes.

I looked at the dyno numbers and from what I see the TT’s and the third gears intake are with in 1-3 hp and torq. The biggest difference is in the price. Lloyd’s TT’s I can order for $525 and have in a few days and third gears $324 and I’m still waiting on my intake. So $200 for an extra 1-3 hp and/or torq????

Peak power they are close, TT have a better curve. That being said, I have the 3rd gear on my Gunner and I'm happy with it.

why? .... get the Toque Tube intake. much better piece
I am in no way of saying that the TT and the 3rdGear are the same quality of fit and finish/have the same power output. My original thinking was the same as stated before. I.e. an extra 250$ for 1-3 HP is not enough for me to say it is "smart money". What is having me buy TTs is that if the lead time is 6 months I'm not down with that. When I say "smart money" I am not being presumptuous, I think that 250$ is better spent on putting towards cams rather than squeezing 1 - 3 hp/tq with an intake.

Here's the thing...
They are called TORQUE Tubes, not horsepower tubes. Yes, they only net you a couple HP over other set-ups, but THAT TORQUE!!!

This is the S&S airbox and the TTI compared. No other changes were made to the bike. Notice that at 3400 rpm the gains were ELEVEN horsepower and SEVENTEEN ft-lbs. Peak torque went from 119 to 131. You get what you pay for.

The $250 'smart money' thing? Yeah... that's ONE TIRE.
In the world of owning a motorcycle, $250 is a drop in the bucket on maintenance costs and that's leaving out accessories and performance parts.

"Smart money" is making several things better with one decision. For instance you could get all your performance desires accomplished, using someone else's money (for free) and boosting your credit score in the process.

This is not for everyone, but it's how I would do it. Walk into my bank and ask for a no interest for 18 months credit card. Use that card to do your pipes/airbox/cams/tuner... once and done! Now, if you pay that off in 18 months, you pay no interest on that money, your money stays where it is, and your credit score goes up. Plus, you don't have to sneak up on having the bike you want, taking the more expensive route because you can't afford 'once and done'. You get to ride the bike you wanted NOW, not next year or the year after, and no compromising on cheaper parts.

CAUTION: Only do this if you have at least a $200 surplus in the monthly budget to throw a it.

If the above won't work for you, the best path is to save up the money and do it all at once.... it's way cheaper in the long run. Don't ask me how I know, that story is embarrassing.

I am liking that way of thinking thank you for the heads up and not trying to put me down. And I havent seen a difference like that but I know the S&S box definatly leaves a lot to be desired. Yeah I started this bike out with thinking I was going to go piece by piece, the way it is working in just buying everything at once haha. Has anyone bought from victory only. Com lately?
