Does anyone make a locking kit for the XR “Leather” bags? Most of the XRs I see for sale don’t have the painted, locking saddlebags.

There are a few aftermarket products out there, but all of them will require you to drill into your bags most likely. I decided that if I ever wanted to put a locking mechanism on soft or wrapped saddlebags, I'd modify a hidden magnetic system (generally used for cabinets, hidden drawers, etc). Probably make some mounting hardware so I wouldn't have to drill or cut into the bags directly. Something to think about.

I'm not sure about the locks for the leather bags but you can get hard painted ones still...

I saw those. Not a cheap conversion. They look identical to the factory ones. Did they make the ones Victory used? Any idea if they're a quality vendor?

You’re right, they are not cheap, but still not a bad price for painted, locking motorcycle saddlebags compared to other options for the same. I’ve never bought anything from them but have kept their info as a possible source if I needed something. My guess is that since the bags look identical they must have been the OEM vendor or there would be copyright issues with the design.

They're not. Once you purchase you have to go for another drill or lock case which is most companies don't bother about. This should be addressed and there should be a solution to it. Try this one if it suits you hard one and leather saddlebag. At least they have the lock thing covered up.

I’m very familiar with Viking Bags. I posted about my install on my Judge. They’re a great value.

The heavy duty zip ties do come in handy in a pinch to lock your helmet down or saddle bag as long as the thief doesn't carry a pocket knife either way it may discourage them or at least slow them down

There should be a fixed metal bar attached to it. At least just for the sake of mental peace.

I've only come across the back hard trunk with mat finishing for such purpose I hope this works out this time otherwise I have to let it go.

    Cable gun lock.
Used to do that with my helmet on my last bike run through the rings and it's not going anywhere.

That would keep the less honest people out if the bags have a loop to run it through. Not going to stop anyone that really wants in though.
