Congratulations and you're gonna love AZ.

Now your thread title is real clickbate...

After doing a couple hundred miles today getting new tires I was thinking about 102 degrees is tough. You'll be arriving at a great time.

Congratulations.. I took an early retirement for family reasons and moved to another location as well. I lasted about 3 months enjoying the freedom then cabin fever set in and I had to find a part time job just to keep me sane. I also get lots of time on the bike which is great.

It's a new exciting life you're embarking on and I hope your retirement and new location is everything you thought and hoped it would be.

Congrats to getting there! Now start the next chapters on your own time...
I’ve been looking at that goal on the horizon and in my line of work, I’m wanting out in 5-6 years. I’ve seen a lot of things in my career, dealt with a lot of diseases when they were the”next big thing” and come to realize there are fewer days ahead so hopefully I can retire then stay outta everybody’s way.
@NYMike thanks for keeping America running! Enjoy :beer3:

It just dawned on me that this in fact is a petro hauler! I have been to damn near every refinery in NorCal. Some were bad - some were worse - some were unspeakable! Working with the guys there was always fun for me. I have been in more sh!t than I can tell you! I have been in unit fires, leaking ships, union strikes and more. By far the worst was when the Cat Cracker blew at the old Tosco refinery. 6 guys died in that thing, some of them I knew. I had to go do a damage assessment shortly after. Simply mind blowing to see solid steel twisted like it was cheap plastic. Refineries are very intense places...

You try living in Illinois. Highest taxes, lowest credit rating and political corruption at every level of government. Its hard to put on a smile.

Mike, I retired in Aug 2003, just 1 month short of age 55. For 7 months, every day was Saturday - the wife worked and so did the TV. But I'm not a handyman as it were but I had to do something to fill in my time so I got a part time job, then changed to a different part time job and still working casual part time. I'll be 72 on Tuesday. Just don't start watching daytime TV, drinking or getting stoned, or napping for that matter. Keep in touch with people, don't turn into a hermit and you'll do just fine. My best to you. It's kind of another job but with no boss and no demands.

Thanks for sharing your retirement. Drive safe on that last load and don't think too much of 3 days ahead while driving.
Have fun in the next phase of life and have fun on the bikes. Be safe.
