I am in need of a new Quad Ring for my K&P S1 oil filter. I hit up the K&P website and see they list the replacement seals with an MSRP of $1.00, but they don't sell them via the main K&P site. Since I couldn't find them for a buck anywhere that I looked, I emailed K&P for advice.

They told me to order the part from here as there's no sales tax and free shipping: QR1 Quad Ring - USAOILFILTERS

I figured I would share this with everyone because I know some vendors are charging over $2.50 + shipping. I just picked up 5 replacement quad rings for $5.00 from the site above with PayPal checkout to boot. I'm not sure how fast free shipping is, but I'll post an update when I have them in hand.

I was looking and they also sell the stainless filter itself in case you need a replacement.

I am not impressed with the new Quad rings that come with their filter either! I had one puke out and dump oil all over the back end! Now their filters I have used for ever on other bikes! 80K on the Nomda 35K on the Drifter, still same original ring - this new one is on it's second ring! I had a Bearing / Transmission supply house find me a replacement ring and will be installing it next oil change! I had K & P send me some replacement rings after I gave them grief over the first failure! They said they had had no complaints, so now I know better! All I can say is you need to inspect the ring every time you take it off and watch the torque on the filter! The 2 raised portions of the Quad ring seem to chunk real easy!

@Rewindguy, what are you torquing your filter to? I torque mine to 15 ft. lbs (same as drain plug) and haven't had a problem to speak of. Hopefully I never do as that sounds like one hell of a mess and potentially a major problem for your engine.

Been running K&Ps on our in-house bikes since 2008 and absolutely love everything about them.

15 ft lbs - as per the instructions came with the filter. Plus I am a mechanic and was not real impressed with the quality of the o-rings!

Just a quick update. They sent me an email yesterday stating that my items have shipped. Here is the message they sent me:

Your order has been processed & shipped out using an envelope, so there isn’t a tracking number.
    Thank you for your business!
If you have any questions feel free to contact us.

    Thanks,

    Thank you!
I haven't gone with those filters because I never knew how much better they were. The extra protection and the high flow with significantly less pressure differential sold me. It's on the short list now!

I don't know if it is standard but from WD there is also a spare quad ring in the kit.

Options are always good. During your research, did you happen to uncover where the Flo filter is made? K&P touts that their filters are 100% designed and manufactured in the USA. I can personally vouch that K&P has good customer service and quick communication. I can't say that I've seen anyone here vouch for the Flo filters yet. With something like this I would be a bit hesitant to blaze a new trail and hope that your research is sound.
