The standard cable simply connects to a music player's headphone jack and the only control you'll have with it is Volume.
If you add the iPod cable, you'll have full control of the connected iPod through the console and the handlebar controls. You can use your left hand to move forward or backwards in your playlist andif you have playlist, you can access them directly on the console. The iPod cable also keeps the iPod charged, so basically, you can take an iPod Nano, place it in the compartment and forget it.
There are some issues with the usage of an iPhone, but that's an Apple issue, not Victory's. iPod Nano's work very well.
