Polaris couldn't overcome the name recognition problem of "Victory" as few outside cruiser enthusiasts would associate the word with a motorcycle. Ironically, "Indian" may face a similar fate as worldwide "Indian motorcycle" will mean something different, especially as India has become the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world:

Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is the Indian Motorcycle of the Year 2019 - BikeWale

North America headquarters in Milwaukee, WI. True heritage. The real "Indian Motorcycle" to the rest of the world. Where's the confusion?

Might leave Polaris with some 'splainin to do in the future if R.E. catches on here: "No, we don't make a Thunderbird. Bullet? No, that's the other Indian motorcycle company. Continental GT? What, are you stupid or something? We're Indian Motorcycle, not Indian motorcycle!"

Maybe Indian Motorcycle can shut out Indian motorcycles at their price point. Is 2,49,724 expensive for an Interceptor 650?

In these political times I'm surprised they can even call them Indians. Indian, America, should come out with the....."Native American" and it should be an updated Vision. A true American ride.... All I got man...

The funny thing is that most of the PC terms have been made up by white folks.
Most of the full bloods I know either don't care or would rather be referred to as "The People" or by the name they used for them selves.

This makes absolutely no sense because Victory advertisements we VERY limited. No advertising no familiarity. Indians are overpriced chrome.

Well ok then ....... Indian is the oldest American brand of Motorcycle that sustained life some how into today. Who doesn’t know this brand ? ......and if they don’t then who cares that they don’t.
We know it as well as many other brands.
So to civilian non motorcyclist ? Stay in your cage and put the Fukien phone away !!!!!

I currently have 4 bikes in my garage so check yourself fool. I was speaking of marketing, just because they are old doesn't mean they are marketed properly. I love Victory I have and the one I sold. So since you don't know me not my level of riding and capabilities STFU!

@Russellp23 I don't think slick was talking directly to or about you or your post, maybe just misread it?

Honestly, I am not so sure that anyone can truly connect Polaris-indian to the OG Indian Motorcycle brand. Indian Motorcycles went out of business in 1953. Just because Polaris bought the rights to a name (as others did before them), that does not grant them OG status. This is simply their interpretation of the real Indian Motorcycle brand. And that's fine, I guess. Who cares, really? Either you like the new stuff, or you don't.

Im thinking you addressed your comment to me because you think I commented you. I did not. I was speaking in general and talking about cagers that know nothing about motorcycles that like to talk on their phones. My apology if you read my comment wrong.
Now on a different note. We don’t treat each other here with dis-respect. This is a long time old group of what I consider friends.
