This is my !st post- I have a 05 KPwithalmost 7kmiles &only use Victory oil change kitwhen when i change my oil. My problem is whenengine gets really warm it gets hard to shift (forget aboutputting it in neutral). I have heard that i need to go to 50w. Has anybody had this problem or heard of this before?
May seem like a silly question, but are you using 6 quarts? It seems like almost all other bikes use less and with this being a clutch system that uses this oil as well I figures that I would ask. If you were shorting that amount of oil that was supposed to in there, then that could cause shifting issues..
I had an '05 Kp and never really had a problem. I always used the Victory Oil Change kit. The only time that I was not happy with an oil was when I used Amsoil.
Just a thought...
Check your clutch cable adjustment, my pin is a royal pain to shift if it's out of adjustment even a little bit.
When I tighten up the cable free play, shifts great, loud but great.

Mine has 3000km on it and has the same issue. Really notchy when the oil is hot and neutral is hard to find unless I'm rolling.
Used Victory oil on last service.
Jim, I know there was a shift linkage recall issue on the 05 but I'm not sure about a clutch cable issue that is specific for the 05. I did notice on my last ride that it was easier for me to shift into 2nd if I had it wound up pretty good. Although shifting has never been much of a problem.
Gator
I have had issues with hard shifting when the shift linkage pivot pointsget dry, a few drops of oil and the issue dissapears.I think that it did seem to get worse when the engine was hot. I've used nothing but Victory oil for 25K miles now....... I have been thinking about trying a synthetic, but I worry about the wet clutch?
When they get hot it`s harder to shift.
Vic oil is semi and personnaly im going to change to amsoil
Friend of mine proved it with oil teperature stick
His bike was coller than mine after a long ride in hot weather.
States that since using amsoil bike shift smooth to.
amsoil 20w 40
I have been running Amsoil in all of my bikes since 2000. Never any issues and the bikes run cooler and shift better with lower engine noise.
