Hi everyone.

So I am (attempting to) installing a set of RPW Slash pipes to my Highball. And I have a question about the rear exhaust mount.

So after I remove the old exhaust, the swingarm pivot bolt/nut looks like this:

There is a little spacer part which sits over the nut that held on the original exhaust bracket, but does not appear to be used anymore.

Anyway, when fitting the RPW bracket, it seems that this new bracket just sits direct on that nut and would look something like:

Is this right? The bracket does not seat that well on the nut, but it does not seem to work any other way. Maybe I am over thinking this and I should just install it this way, but I was hoping I could get some confirmation from the best and brightest on this forum first.

Thank you

Thank you - appreciated.

It does seem a little crude to be honest, but it is what it is.

Thanks again.

Make sure you have NEW gaskets at the header connections. Snug everything, don't torque anything. Get the pipes to hang where you want them. Torque the header nuts down (easy, only 18 ft-lbs) then torque down the mounting points.

After every couple of heat cycles (that means get the motor hot and then cool again) re-snug the header connections. THEY ARE NOT LOOSENING, the gaskets are crushing down (that's why they call them crush gaskets). Might take 2 or 3 re-torques before they stay put.

Use the baffles. Make sure the baffles are tightened in the pipe good. They go in point forward.

So this is how it looks right now. It was tuned for the X-Bow pipes, but not sure if that tuning is safe to use with these pipes? Anyway, I am very pleased with how this looks. I think a touch of chrome lifts the bike.

For anyone else contemplating this and keeping the O2 sensors note the following:

Loosely fit the front pipe then insert the front O2 sensor and tighten it up good. You cannot properly tighten it once the pipe is fixed into position.
Then install the O2 sensor to the rear pipe prior to installing the pipe on the bike. You cannot install the sensor afterwards.

I was looking to add the baffles per your suggestions, but crikey, they seem to be an awfully tight fit! I may have to 'persuade' them to go in with my 5 lb persuader I think. Or is there another trick I should be aware of.
