I am experiencing what seems like excessive engine heat and I was hoping for some advice. I recently (1-2 weeks) added a Lloydz Timing Wheel set at 4. I also use 93 octane gasoline and I disconnected the O2 sensors as suggested. The heat seems to rise up just beneath my right thigh. Initially, I would feel some heat on my lower leg but now it seems to consistently reach up just under my thigh and I can feel it somewhat in the seat. I am thinking about dialing back the timing wheel or removing it altogether. Please advise

Mid range fuel is fine don't really need the hi octane but I doubt that is causing the heat issue.

What bikes have you owned/rode in the past.
The only reason I ask is for comparison.
These Vics don't run "Harley Hot" but they do run hotter than my Guzzi's when temps get past 90.
Just trying to see if what you have is normal or not.

Zoom in on the Vision on the right. Just to the right of the Lloydz support plate on the primary, you can see a small black shield that goes over the normal chrome exhaust shield... it's attached with two radiator clamps. I put it there because the exhaust was melting my work pants. It helped. That should give you some idea that these bikes do run a bit hot. 116 is a tad hotter then the 106!

Warmed up 125F. Ready to get on it 185F, bike runs around 220-230 normally. It can get hotter if I am not moving and or the ambient temperature is really high...Like in the high 90s to 100°.

I have previously owned a Kawasaki Vulcan 900C and a GSX-R600. This is my first big bike and I've only had it a month or so. I just didn't want to ignore a possible warning of something I need to rectify.

Absolutely! Always cheaper to fix it early than later.
I would say that based on your two previous rides it's probably running normal.
At some point you may want to get it to one of the dyno/tuner guys because all new bikes run lean to meet emmissions.

I have 47,000 miles on the '13 Cross Tour & it has never been on a dyno.

Thanks. I will keep that in mind. I planned on putting on a dyno after my intake upgrade and power commander. One step at a time, lol!

I have an exhaust shied on my pipe but you'd think I was riding naked the way that heat is nipping at my seat. You've put some working into your lady. I do need to find out the best way to disable that speed limiter though

Have Lloydz Flash the ECU...or one of your favorite victory gurus. $125...me thinks.

Mine ran much hotter before I tuned it. It is still hot but not nearly as bad as when I first got it.

Honestly I don't think my CCT runs that much hotter than my Kawasaki 900 Classic did. The one area that does seem much hotter is on the right side at my calf area when I'm sitting at a red light. Though I definitely wont be riding in shorts on this bike, not that I ever did anyway.

That rear cylinder exhaust is right there. Makes sense that we feel the burn.

Try stop-n-go traffic at a 112F degrees... my right calf gets numb!
Yah, it's due for a tune.

Roan, are you running ANY KIND of wind deflector besides the stock fairing?

Pretty normal from your description. It's a big ole V twin with the rear exhaust near your leg. I put radiant tape on the bottom of the seat and got this heat shield which works great! Zoom in right over the rear cylinder.
