    Police related news and events.

Notice the two in question here are 15 years old.

Officials: Suspects in Ga. police shooting are gang members

Officer Scott Davis, a 10-year veteran of the force, was shot in his leg when responding to a call

    By Lauren Foreman
    The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

MARIETTA, Ga. — Two juveniles arrested in connection with the shooting of an on-duty Marietta cop are Bloods gang members, police said Monday.

The juveniles, both 15 years old, face charges of violation of Georgia's Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, aggravated assault on a police officer, unlawfully entering an automobile, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and theft by receiving.

"MPD will not be releasing the name of the juveniles at this time," Marietta police Officer Brittany Wallace said.

Officer Scott Davis, a 10-year veteran of the force, is expected to recover from a shot to his leg, Wallace told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Davis and two other Marietta officers were responding to a call about people entering cars outside The Gallery Apartments in the 700 block of Franklin Gateway when the shooting occurred before 4:30 a.m.

"At least one of the suspects opened fire striking one Marietta Police Officer," Wallace said. "All three officers returned fire striking one of the suspects."

Davis and the injured teen were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Davis is out of surgery and in recovery, Wallace said.

Police later determined at least one of two guns recovered at the scene was stolen, she said.

"Officer Davis and the two other officers, which were involved in the incident, will be placed on administrative leave per policy standards," Wallace said.

Davis was one of two officers shot during separate incidents just hours apart. Eastman police Officer Tim Smith was shot and killed as he investigated a suspicious person call about 9:30 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Smith and Main streets. Eastman, in Dodge County, is about 55 miles south of Macon. Royheem Delshawn Deeds, the man accused of fatally shooting Smith, was arrested early Monday in Florida.

A black officer shot a black criminal with a gun and is having to deal with this. If I were him it is not me I'd be worried about but my family. When all these BS started going on I made my wife stop wearing the mini badge she loves so much. Its a sad day in America when those that are protecting this great land are being targeted for doing nothing more than their job. Many cities have felt the police withdraw from their duties and if things continue this way I believe it will be a nation wide issue of officers going from call to call and not wanting to do any proactive work so they are not exposed to any more risk.

Its a hard time to be an officer and probably even a harder time to be an officer's family.

For those that don't know the killed man in Milwaukee has a loud mouth sister. The news has cut her statements down to make it appear she is calling for peace when it very much the opposite.

She calls for the people to stop burning down their neighborhood and instead burn down the suburbs. She says that they need their "weave." That's right their weave stores is what she is worried about.

Social media threats toward Milwaukee officer intensify

Close to 3,000 people have shared a Facebook photo that includes the officer's name and home address

MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee police officer has been targeted by online threats from people who say he fatally shot the black man whose death has sparked violence in the city.

Police haven't released the name of the officer who shot Sylville Smith on Saturday, but widely shared social media posts and at least one news report Tuesday identified him as a 24-year-old patrolman — matching the age and departmental experience that police released. Many posts contained threats against him and a photo.

The department said in a statement Tuesday it has noticed a "disturbing national trend" in which social media users have identified officers involved in fatal shootings and threatened them and their families. A spokesman declined to confirm the identity being circulated online.

The department said it is aware of some local threats against its officers and is investigating.

Smith, 23, was shot and killed Saturday after a brief foot chase that followed a traffic stop. Police say Smith had a gun in his hand when he turned toward the officer, who opened fire. The state is investigating.

    The officer is also black.

A few hours after the shooting, violence erupted on the city's largely black north side, with protesters hurling rocks at police and burning six businesses. A lighter night of protests followed Sunday. Monday was calm, though 10 people were arrested. There were no reports of protesters Tuesday.

The looting of a Milwaukee "weave" store. These places are hit all the time in burglaries.

I do not have the answers to why some people act/think like some do as seen in the video. I will say to all in blue, be vigilant and keep you head on a swivel. I for one got your back.!!, and I am sure there are many more.

It's amazing how some people react to the garbage they see on the news/social media. I always get a good laugh when the family of a criminal who has been involved with the police gets interviewed. The family always says what a great guy he was or he was just getting his life together. What a joke! For those who think the police aren't needed, good luck with that!

I'm not a LEO & have never been on the other side of the law.

I could not be a LEO simply because I do not have the self control it takes to deal with idiots especially those who would hurt people.

This sh!t disgusts me. we always show our respect and support for the Law Enforcement community. It saddens me that these brave men and women are not getting more support and resources at the federal level because this is a form of domestic terrorism. To make threats on and actually attack law enforcement personnel - give me a break. This needs to be crushed, and crushed right now. And where is this administration? Nowhere. I am Not surprised by this, mind you, just saddened by it.

One of my fantasies is to see the instigators (those at the highest levels of government) suddenly find themselves with absolutely no police presence or protection for ,lets say a full week. I wonder if tunes would change?

I think a great many more citizens appreciate a good cop than the handful of idiots out there. BUT crap like this p!sses me off to no end. We had some really great old timers in our local force that retired on and now have a couple Barney Fifes that do nothing but piss people off, but even if a cop I disliked were on the line, I would back them up 100%. Its respect for what they stand for, what they do, and what they potentially face each day. No reason they should be attacked by cowards the way they have been without any defense. This crap will eventually lead to citizen / LEO groups combining to root these douche bags out. If it happens, I'll be standing behind the guys who stand behind the badge.

My hats off to the men and women in Blue, you have my respect and my support.

I retired in my 27th year as a LEO one year ago today. At the beginning of last summer I told my wife I've never seen society so divided and thugs so empowered to attack police and such. I was attacked more and people tried baiting the us into violence more then I've ever seen. It was the most violent May, June, July and August I've witnessed while working in a mid sized mid west city.

I'd hate to be just starting out in LE. Bless those who are willing to work holidays, shift work and weekends. I don't miss many aspects of the job. I do miss the contact with good people that I had daily in the community.
