    This is dumb.

"elimination of police stops for low-level offenses — such as failing to wear a seat belt or driving with expired license plate tags."

Then just make it all legal....problem solved.

"By diverting police away from low-level offenses, officers can focus on more serious offenses that include speeding or driving under the influence, Arreguín said."

But it is the low level stuff that often gives the PC for the stop in the first place to get to that bigger charge.

This is a strange one. If the story is correct he called for a deputy and walked the road. He then went back later with a coworker. So on the one hand going back with the staff member tells me he knew it was a person and wanted the person found. So you have him hiding what he hit but possibly feeling bad about it at the same time. Then you have the glasses that the deputy seemed to have missed too. Maybe he didn't look at the car? Seems unlikely though. Maybe he saw them and assumed they were the AG's? Seems I would have asked if they were his and if he was wearing them as it could be a contributing factor for the report I would guess was done...but being the deputy was told it was a deer no report was done.

I would also like to know where the AG met the deputy and told him it happened. I think that would be very important for the overall investigation.

If they found the body on the side of the road in the morning, never noticed a truck in the ditch clearly the AG took the officer back to the wrong part of the road and clearly the AG kept going after he hit the man to have the officer nowhere near the body.

    For junior sleuths.

The article didn't say the man made it back or was even near his truck. So the truck may not have been in sight of any of them.

    So maybe not clearly.

That officer did an excellent job. A tad late picking up the gun but I think that played into the cops favor. Gave the suspect plenty of time to comply and then went to work without looking aggressive.

I was worried the guy was going to shoot while holding that gun along his thigh. It all worked out in the end.
