It is expensive, no doubt, but it fits two full-sized helmets, looks like it really belongs on the bike (most others look like add-ons, which they are), has integrated speakers, lighting. My wife and I had been looking at the CC w/o the trunk (Arlen Ness didn't have any on the floor with the trunk) and were close to buying but waited. We went in last Saturday and they had one with the trunk and that sealed the deal. The boss (my wife) said, "Buy it".

I saw one last week at the local Victory dealer. It was ordered for another customer's 2010. Apparently, putting the trunk on a 2010 requiresa $99"upfit kit" (which was on back order), so the trunk was not mounted but I got the opportunity to get a good hands-on look at it.
It is an impressive piece and of very high quality. Very much worth the cost IMO. My dealer said he would discount it for me and that I would be looking at around $1600 for the trunk, plus the $99 upfit kit, and around $40 for the lock. I didn't see the upfit kit, so I can't tell you what it consists of, but apparently there is a difference in the mounting system between the 2010 and the 2011.
I'll be ordering mine next week.

only the 2010's need the additional $140 in hardware. The 2011's come with a lock and new subframe(which is what the uplift kit is).

That being said, I've had my trunk since 3 days after it was announced. It's a decent piece other than the top paint is horrible orange peel.

Storage is fantastic though.

Uplift is now shipping though(if you need it).

To get a lock for it(if you need) is still on backorder for a few more weeks and you'll need to get it re-keyed if you want to use only one key.

Also it comes with an open hole. If you don't have the lock, you'll need to find a way to plug the hole(for weather) until it's available.

But yes it is too expensive. $1500 would be more appropriate.

1500 for a plastic box is way too expensive in my humble opinion. I thought it was 999.99 and even that was a little much but at least it didn't make me feel raped like 1500 does.Just my 2!
I think 999 was the Vision trunk last year...

Motorcycle.com says it's a cruiser, not a touring bike, so yes I paid waaaaaaay too much $$$ for it.

Hmmm...I didn't realize that it needed an upfit kit....that puts the total cost w/tax real close to $2K. Orange peel? Did you take it back?
Thanks for the responses!
nope I kept it. Polaris is usually pretty good about fixing their stuff for you when it breaks, however you'll never get them to admit that out the door there was ever anything wrong with something.

If paint bothered me that much I'd never ride my bike 12,000+ miles a year. In a matter of weeks you'll have chips, dings, scratches etc. It's unavoidable unless its a garage queen.

+1 Yep. (I think I would have talked to them about the orange peel - at least bring it to their attention - just for shiz$$ & giggle$).

if unsure, why not get side bag racks and store your stuff in and on top of the sides
I have the rails as well. Bought those before the trunk became available. Never used them to transport anything but I think the look fits the bike well

How can the 2010 need a special kit that the 2011 dont? they are the same exact bike.
No, they aren't. After long term testing for things beyond just load capacity they determined they needed to extend the sub frame to the rear mount points and made that change with the 2011 subframe. The uplift kit provides that support for 2010 bikes.

Many here do not understand all the things a modern company has to test for and what effect that has on products. You think of a top case and you think of how much stuff you can put in it. You don't think about the combination of 50 lbs cantelevered out past the end of the frame and a "large" passenger pushing on the backrest at the same time. Sometimes it takes months to expose a weak spot and that seems to be what happened here.

Also understand that aftermarket companies rarely are equipped to do this type of testing, that's one of the reason OEM parts tend to cost more and take longer to come to market.
