I have a general question concerning Victory Kingpin 2006 model and a shimmy / vibration that occurs between 75-80 mph that I definitely was not expecting when I took out a low mileage bike to buy. Previous and only owner leads me to believe that the issue has been with the model for a long time and apparently has taken the bike into a NC dealer who informed him that was " normal " and could do nothing to diagnose or fix the issue ?? Since I'm contemplating buying the bike which only has 9500 miles on it and in great condition - other than this issue - was wondering if anyone in the forum has had a similar issue with any Kingpins around that year and what might be the cause (s) and / or fixes required to properly "Tour" with the bike ?

    TY

That is not a common complaint that I read here. How old are the tires? How are they balanced? The 06 and 07 have the earlier peppier 100 ci.Can you post pics?

These bikes do not have a shimmy issue that in any way could be or should be considered "normal". Are the tires original to the bike? If so, plan on getting new tires asap. Is the fork oil still from 2006? If so, replace it asap as well.

The Kingpin gets a LOT of respect from the Victory crowd as it's an excellent model. Is this one the Tour model with saddlebags or the base model? What, if anything has been done to the engine?

I agree with both Preach and Mike.

Maybe the tires are cupped? My first time with that experience I felt a similar wobble/vibration. In a separate instance my steering head nut wasn't torqued down enough after I replaced the bearings and definitely felt vibrations until that was corrected.

80k on mine and other than self-inflicted issues my Pin is a rock.

    Welcome to the VOG!
