Fill it with diesel by accident?

That is really an odd smell what makes you think it's overheating?

I mistook what I thought was a rotten egg smell from my wife’s car a few weeks ago. Turned out to be one of the 3 batteries (who knew hybrids had 3 batteries) was toast and when plugged in to recharge emitting that “battery overcharging smell”...which can be sorta similar to rotten eggs.

my guess is your battery. Did you smell it with the bike alone? Or in a garage with other cars? Our garage has my bike, and our two cars. So I had to first figure out which vehicle the smell was coming from.

    Check your saddlebags.
Might've left your shopping in there.
I've found milk a few days old I forgot I'd bought.

i'd go with the cats. or possibly oil. when it gets " burned " it really smells foul, [and not at all like chicken], or turkey] or any bird for that matter!. also, the cats i mean catalytic converter not the household kind or wild felines either!

I'd start by checking out the battery. Usually if they puking acid it's easy to tell.

Don't know of cats going bad.

No 2008 XC. No rotten egg smells ever mentioned on the Vog. No Lloydes and never cut out exhaust ..... that’s bad.
Ok so do this. Change the battery. See if it helps. Then change the oil to Spectro 20/40 Golden 4. It won’t fix the rotten egg smell but you will have the best oil for your Vic.

Ding dong ? Ding dong ?? Motul MOTUL !!
Hey it’s actually a good oil. Seems to be doing fine. No issues and I’m digging the shifting being smoother. I only have 200 miles on this Motul 7100 ding dong oil so the jig is still up on how it does in a 10 yr old cammed Vic with a stock clutch. Will say though the Spectro was just fine.
