We just bought a 2008 used Vision with 10k miles and after 400 miles the rear brake locked up. The rotor was "red" hot. I lettherotorcool down and we were able to get home.
We were lucky we were not on the interstate or a car following us closely when this happened.
Any ideas what could have caused this and why it took 400 miles or so to happen.
Thanks in advance for your help

Were any mods made to the brake system?

Sounds like there is debris in the line somewhere.

Rebuild and flush entire brake system. 'Nothing to take chances with.

As you found out, a lock up can cause you to crash.

You should get a new rotor as the one you have or had is likely damaged.

I too had this happen. I had my calipers chromed. Small flecks of chrome got in brake line and to master cylinder. Locked brakes up tight after application. Warped both rotors. Luckily I noticed while going quite slowly. 'Would have crashed at speed.

In any event, debris in the line can do this. Air alone could be bled out.

I replaced everything. Nothing to take chances on.

Great medium sized dealer!! I bought my bike from them. Aaron and Dixie were as helpful as they could be.
