I have an Anger Management efi/tuner on my bike paired with a llyodz air box and a set of Victory Performance Straights.

All this was on the bike when I bought it from the dealer.

It's all fine a good, but I have noticed that I think I might need an adjustment.

The Lloydz air box really sucks in a lot of air. And, it seems at low speeds, or while sitting at idle, the air intake is really outweighing the fuel ratio. So, when I "blip" the throttle quickly, I can stall it sometimes. Like the fuel can't keep up with the amount of air being brought in, and it just stalls out.

Right now it's clearly way to lean and I want to get it adjusted.

I've read everything from Hacker ( AMS Tips ) on how to set up the tuner.
They give the basics, but not too much.

I made sure that it's all connected properly and functioning, but I need some sort of manual to help me understand how to navigate the tuner so I can fine tune the bike's low end fuel ratio. I'd don't have any of this material, because I never had any of the original packaging.

Anybody have any of this material, or can direct me to an online manual? I've searched a lot the past few days and have nothing to show for it as of yet.

I would recommend getting a proper tune on a dyno. You could seriously damage the motor if it is running to lean, even if you get the idle sorted out, it could be to lean in one area of the rev range and to rich in another. Get in touch with the Vic Shop in Iowa. They are probably the closest to you of the big 4 tuners. Either that, or check with some guys in your area and see if there is a good local Vic tuner around.

It is a Dobeck tuner. GO to their web site and dload how to adjust. I have the EKJ and it works great. I installed it and it has been working great for over 3 years. You might want to rent or purchase an Air Flow meter, as I did for a perfect tune. Without you can get it close enough without the AF meter or hurting the motor if you know what you are doing. That's why it's adjustable... so you can tune with it. If it's lean, add some fuel for God's sake. That's what it's for. Read up on the unit, what does what. You don't need a dyno. you don't need to buy anything. The bike will teach you what it wants, you just have to learn to listen.

Your average Joe is never going to be able to get a blinky box set optimally flying blind. If they are lucky, they might get it set close. Most guys couldn't even tell you if their bikes are running lean or rich. That is why I recommended a professional do the tuning for him. For even better results, go with a PCV and timing wheel, or and ECU tune.

I'm not sure if they are any better on bikes, but I've seen several dobeck tuners on ATV's fail and flood the crankcase with fuel. Since the environment where the tuner on an ATV lives is much different than a street bike, they may be more reliable in his application. I've still seen enough of them fail that I will never use one again! I replaced the one I had on my ATV after I saw the 3rd one in my riding group fail.

Personally, I feel a dyno tune with one of these controllers is a waste of money. It can only get so good. If you read and follow the tuning guide (I know, most people can't even find the tuning guide and if they have it in front of them they won't comprehend it anyway) it will be as good as it's going to get. I know guys who had a VFC tuned by Kyle or Kevin and ended up putting it back to the settings they had before the tune.

I am looking at getting it tuned professionally...eventually. Mostly because I have no clue what, if, when or how it was ever tuned before. For all I know, some dude who had no clue what he was doing just slapped it all on there and never adjusted anything. The local Indian/Vic dealership wants $350 (minimum) for a tune on a dyno.

The bike runs fine 99 percent of the time. Especially at the high end. Lots of power and torque on the highway at 70 mph. Normal mpg, too - I get anywhere from 35-45 mpg (depending on the ride or how I feel that particular day). No hiccups or hesitations at all.

I just feel like it could run much better at low end and Idle now that I've had a year to really get to know the bike and it's in's-and-out's. I shouldn't be able to stall it out either just by jumping on the throttle quickly at just the right time.

Also, I want to know how to use the tools that are on my bike. Even If I do get it tuned professionally, I still want to know how to navigate that programmer. It's on my bike for heavens sake...I should know what it does and how to use it. Right?....

Thanks for the heads up on the links. I will read it all.

My ams programmer has the 8 lights at the top and the three buttons ( - MODE + ) on the bottom. I will double check, but it looks like it's comparable to the Gen 3 Dobek.

Any more info you guys have is greatly appreciated.
