I have decided to make a few mods to my octane and thought id see If anybody has any advice:

I am changing few things:
- LED headlight
- new grips (found some for the scout)
- new bar end mirrors
- putting on the pillion seat and pegs
- side mounted number plate
- OEM luggage for when needed

now questions
do I mount the side plate to the rear shock bottom bolt?
how easy are the grips to replace, is there anything I should know?

Wow is that a licence plate or a mud flap off a big rig???

Yeah that would be why it's getting changed aha! Gone for a 5' x 7' just wondering do you know if the rear indicators come off with the stock plate mount or not?

I wouldn't think so. On my cross roads it' a seperate mount. Only 2 screws

So I've worked out I'll need different indicators as the number plate and the rear indicators attach to the same mount,

I've gone for an led strip and I hope that looks smart

Does the headlight grill prevent or reduce lighting on the sides? Reduction on width?

Not at all, you get a few darker lines of light but nothing drastic. I ride alot at night during the winter without issue

While your in there add heated handlebar inserts. You'll be able to use any grips, and nighttime and cool day riding is so much nicer with them.

I've never really been a fan of heated grips, I find my hands sweat to much! I prefer some nice thick gloves! Thanks for the idea tho!!

They're much better in my mind, they don't vibrate and I have a better range of vision! Very hally
