I took a test ride on a 2021, Chieftain Elite with a 116-inch engine on it ( in sport mode ) and comparing the 2021, Chieftain Elite with a 116-inch engine on it to the 2020 Chieftain, 116-inch engine on it ( in sport mode )that I test rode was like a night and day difference in performance. I read that the new 116-inch engine has a better head design. I don't know if this means bigger intake valves and better flowing heads, but the 2021, 116-inch engine revved out really easy to 4,000 RPM's in 6th gear when compared to the 2020 Chieftain with the 116-inch engine on it that felt really tight at 3,800 RPMs. The 2021 Chieftain 116-engine had a lot more punch in each gear whenever you wound out the gears. In 6th gear and at 80 mph the 116 engine on the 2020 Chieftain felt tight but riding at 85 MPH mph on the 2021, Chieftain Elite, the 116-inch really relaxed. Maybe the 2021 Chieftain has taller gearing? But priced at $38,999 this was way too much for most guys. The custom seat on the 2021 Chieftain Elite was so much comfortable than the seat on the 2020 Chieftain. Riding over bumps the suspension on the 2021 Chieftain Elite, 116 soaked up bumps really good. Picking it up off of the side stand felt very light. This bike is very clickable in changing directions.

I believe you can get the 2021 Chieftain 116 for around $30 ? This Elite is like their CVO bike ? Still cheaper than the 21 CVO my SG my buddy bought. $45k ............ouch !

The Chieftain Elite is Indian's CVO model and it's higher priced than the Chieftain with just a 116-inch engine in it. The 2021 Chieftain Elite 1116 I test rode shifted like the Challenger. You hear a snick and not a clunk when you shift into gear.

I made the mistake of riding the Challenger first at the Indian demo event. Everything after that felt flat and under powered. Excluding the FTR. The challenger is an awesome machine and will probably be the next bike in my garage.

I can buy a 2021 Toyota Camry SE with leather, navigation etc. for 30k.

Not sure what I am saying here, more what I am feeling. Just rambling.

Perhaps the difference between last year's Elite was this one came with a Stage 2 which is an add on to the 35k standard price, not sure. I have read that Indian is developing a 116 with variable valve timing to meet emissions and engine improvements. Again I do not know, but sure sounds like a most positive test ride.
