2012 CR I bought new. I know, Victory says do filter, belt, fork oil every 30k but I rarely do what I'm told. LOL Figured, being I don't baby my bike I would certainly know if my filter was restricting any fuel flow. At 140k still no sign of that happening. However, being I did have a new filter, replacement pump & pressure regulator sitting on shelf since 2016 I figured what the hell. To my surprise the filter did not look that bad, not bright white like a new one but far from being clogged. I also know one bad tank of contaminated fuel could clog a brand new filter. I am not making recommendations, just posting some reality. I did replace the filter, pump, regulator being I was in there. Hoping I'm good for at least another 100k. I do have another new OEM filter on the shelf, hope this thing keeps running long enough for me to also use that one. Peace out!

Not too long ago, I was having some work done on the bike and one of the things I discussed with Noe was the fuel filter. He surprised me when he told me that it is really more of a strainer than a filter. Guess they only really stop the "big" particles. One thing I am very particular about is the gas I use and where I get it.

Victory only uses one in tank filter. It is a multi filter, the outer side nylon mesh is maybe 40 micron and inside that is finer layers of media that filters it down further to maybe 5 micron. Unlike a car which usually has a single stage nylon sock in the tank (stainer) and a fine secondary replaceable filter in line. Maybe why Vic filters cost so much more.

the filter did not look that bad,
Curious if you run non ethanol, regular 87, 91-93 high test fuel most times & if you regularly used any fuel treatment products along those 140k miles such as marvel mystery oil, sea foam or something along those types system cleaners? I also wonder if some are causing more harm than good by replacing undamaged parts only because the book says to do so. Sometimes we hear of people breaking their fuel nipples, tearing rubber hoses or scratching gas tanks while trying to do a maintenance item only to realize the part was still in excellent condition. My xct has about 53k miles so I’ve been debating whether to change the filter & rebuild or replace the fuel pump just because the manual says it’s time to do so. I run non ethanol when available ( is like hens teeth in my area ) most times it’s just the regular 87 octane unless we’re fully loaded and it’s middle of summer then I run 91-93 octane. I’ve never had pinging so it must be working. Also, victory changed the filter style after 04 but may be off by a year or so

I'm very close to you in milage and recently had a discussion with Noe that included changing the filter/pump and he really wasn't overly concerned about it, so I've decided to keep going on the original for a while longer. I think not running low fuel to often or too long helps with cooling the pump which would extend life. I do use gumout and as I said, very picky about fuel. Only buy from two sources, always higher tier. Lots of trouble free miles on several vehicles.

I believe that is the key to having many trouble free miles, by using quality fuel and not running on empty ensures you’re not sucking the inevitable dirt from the tanks bottom & keeping it as submerged as possible to control the pumps heat. In the end it is all about keeping it as clean & cool as possible.

How many of you ride to fill up, see the gasoline tanker truck filling the tanks and choose another station where the particles have settled down?

My filter at 91,000 kms, 55K miles. My tech wasn't concerned with it at all.
