Can't get my oil filter off!!!
I tried sticking a screw driver through it before I had a filter wrench, now I got a wrench and I can't get purchase on it because there are holes in it.

A stuck oil filter is a difficult issue ... In marine engines this happens sometimes, and you just have to keep at it ... relentless effort ....

Once the guy destroyed the whole filter before he called me and i got a 225 mm grinding disk wrench and insert that into the base plate holes of the filter, came right off

Is there any way the you can use a razor to go around the inside of the rubber o-ring on the filter?
Remember that it is not the filter threads that are stuck, it is the o-ring against the motor.
If you can get a razor or knife between it to break that seal then it will spin right off.

Also, do you have a hose clamp big enough to go around the filter?
You could tighten one around it then hit the screw part of the clamp on the side with a hammer to turn the filter that way.

I am thinking the last person who installed the filter didn't oil the o-ring or used a tool to install it. You should only tighten using your hand.

Hope this helps. Good luck and keep us posted.

You can get a strap wrench at any auto parts or most hardware store.

I finally got it off this morning. Wasn't able to locate 225mm disk wrench but I found just the right set of channel locks and was able to get it off. Can't believe how tight it was. Thanks for all the advice fellas

I use one of the rubber strap wrenches for the oil filter. Works well and doesn’t get stuck on the end if off kilter or slip off.

To others: Be very careful about forcing any metal object between the oil filter rubber o-ring and the engine case sealing surface. The likelihood the o-ring wasn’t oiled is nearly 100%. The likelihood of damaging (scoring) the sealing surface with an external object like a razor blade is very high.

I’d use a strap wrench or large adjustable pliers long before forcing anything against the sealing surface.

    Glad your pliers worked.

Google for pictures, but they are like plyers but with more than just two slots for adjustably
