Preview: living in coastal Va now and it tried very hard to set some kind of record for rainfall since I've been here, and my bike has had to sit outside far too often. Came out the other day to ride to work and zip **** nada.. pulled off the side cover and a chunk of lead came away.. the positive terminal on my battery was slag. Replace the battery bike runs great for 2 more days then nothing. NO lights, no fuel pump, nothing. Tow it to my brother-in-laws garage and pull it apart, charge the battery back up and try to trace any problems.. but can't find anything. With battery hooked back into the circuit everything seems to be fine, so I put the battery back in and ride it to a gas station to fill up. Engine light is on the whole way.. not sure what that was about. IT's only like 2 miles so I kill the bike, gas up and turn the key and everything lights up till I hit the starter.. I hear a loud click and everything is dead. NO more power. I haven't taken it back apart, but this sounds a LOT like the relay issue the Cross bikes have. So 1st question.. could this be a relay (I checked all the fuses in the fuse box and everything is good there) and 2nd if it IS a relay problem, where the FUQ is it? I've tried looking through the owners manual and the repair manual but it seems this is a freaking state secret. I think it might be directly under the seat against the rear fender but that is going to be a PITA to change out, like maybe have to take the damn rear wheel and rear fender off to get to it PITA...

a single click like that tells me it's a bad connection, from my experience. Have you checked the 40A breaker? Maybe bypass it to see if that takes care of it.

A breaker is what it sounds like to me as well.. where IS that breaker??? I"m the second owner and the previous had done a lot of things to make this more difficult, including a key relocation down to the side of the battery box. Electrically that was going to be my first thing to try, jumpering out that breaker but I can't seem to figure out where it is or how to get to it. I know exactly where it is on a Cross Country having had to deal with that problem before.
