the link worked for me in windows 10 on laptop using some kind of google play.
I think that noise sounds like a child screaming.
That vido that floats around the forum... why Victory is better'n a stinkin' HD (ptooey) talks about how easy it is to service the starter, even though of course it will never break anyway.
If you ask me (and, I am me... "I" for short) it must be the starter, but, the way I understand it the starter is always engaged, kind of like a ratchet wrench. So, I would look on this site for starter removal.
I do mean to say, that loud screech that happens ONLY during the time starter is running certainly indicates a starter issue. Sorry to overstate the obvious.

Yea it's a terrible noise, lol. I was hoping it wasn't the starter but I'm with you. It prob is.
I think the starter itself is an easier and cheaper fix than other problems would be. You can find made in China starters on Amazon or Ebay reasonably. A buddy of mine paid twice as much for a claimed made in the USA one from WD but when he got it was made in China.

Thats a rusty armature in the starter motor, either replace it or take it apart and give it a good clean I also painted the armature to stop it rusting while dismantled.

Letting stand during the winter in a damp climate will cause this to happen, I did mine about 3 years ago at 30K miles with riding in all weathers in the UK and Europe.

I hope this helps John I think there are some photo's on here somewhere heres the link

XCT starter noise and solution

Instead of listening to Lou I changed out the Starter clutch drive, I still have the noise. I previously had the starter rebuilt but it didn't seem to help much, maybe some. This does seem to cure most starter issues. The electric shop charged me $45 to clean and lube the starter. Removing the header pipe is tough!
Mine must have something to do with the Torque Limit Clutch? From what I have researched, no one replaces this part, so I have decided to just live with the starter noise.
That said, I now have a spare clutch drive should my new one ever break.
