(This may be old news but) I just received a survey from Victory "tell us about your riding style" and the aim of the survey seemed to be to gauge interest in a factory run owners group. They listed a fair number of possible "features" to weigh interest in thngs like organized rides and ironbutts, discounts, localized chapters and newsletters, special tours and discounts, roadside assistance, etc.
I hang here mostly and lurk at the VMC so there's essentially 2 general owners groups plus Vision Riders and Cross Riders.
For me personally the only thing I see lacking besides my own time to actually participate is there's not a lot of local activity in my own area. But I've found this to be true for other groups and hobbies so I know it's something specific to this region and not really a club problem per se.
So what's anyone think about the possibility of a factory run owners group?

Forget factory run. Who needs that headache. I still don't have my rebate from last May so why would I trust Ma-Vic for a riding group. On the other hand a Vic framework for a dealer sponsored riding group might make sense if the local dealer sells enough bikes to actually have enough riders. I doubt my local dealer sells enough Victorys in a year to even get them all together and have enough for a ride.

Weird, I got the same email sent to me with the link to the survey just over an hour ago. Tried clicking on it and it says "This survey is closed and is no longer accepting responses." Can't imagine it was so popular they already got their sample group within the first hour...

As for a factory run owners group, I think their biggest draw would be discounts and roadside assistance. They don't seem to have a very good track record of pulling people togetherinto a "club" either online or in person. Anyone renew their membership after the introductory year was up?

    Now that's interesting....
I went through the whole thing as soon as I got it maybe they didn't like the answers.

Yup same here, the email came in less than an hour ago in my case. When I click the link I get the "This survey is closed and is no longer accepting responses" message as well. If the mothership has a tough time organizing/taking an internet survey for more than an hour or so, I would have a very tough time trusting them to organize a ride/run. :)

they probably realized they sent it the Victory owners and not the Indian owners.

This survey is for Victory owners only.
I had to give them my VIN # first before I could take the survey.

Basically, they want to know if you'd be interested in joining an "Owners Group" for at least $30 annually.

I don't pay to be a member of any riding group and I'm not starting now.

Interesting, I did not have to enter m VIN but then I'm registered so my id may be embeded in the url.

I doubt they imbeded anything into the URL as that would take one hell of an effort to send out all of the emails. More likely you have a cookie on your computer that has your victorymotorcycles.com username and password stored within it. Thus when you clicked on the survey link they already knew who you were.

I know I am auto logged on to the victorymotorcycles.com website (from all 3 of my computers) when I vist victorymotorcycles.com and I was not prompted to enter a VIN either.

They're using a list service (ExactTarget) so embedding a unique identifier into each email is easy. But more likley it's the cookie as you note or they are using a unique parameter to indicate I came from a particualar mail list.
