Was wondering what mods folks did to the Magnum so they could attach the passenger backrest or trunk. I know I can straight remove them, but want to weigh my options. Pictures please. Thanks

I don't have a Magnum however I do have the lower filler panel from Witchdoctor. If I were in your position I would remove the original and replace with the lower panel. No matter how you cut the original you'll never be able to put it back.

You will have to remove them as they use the same pins that the lock and ride stuff uses. There is that backrest that attaches to the underside of the seat(can't remember the name)was just a thread on that a week ago or so.
The WD lower fillers are hard mounted and non removable easily. I would just remove the stock ones and leave them off, prob takes 10 min or so to pull them off.
I have the Vic fillers on and off my '12 XR

1107150805.jpg I installed a custom sissy bar on my Magnum the mount brackets are hidden below the close outs. measured and cut a section about 1/4 inch wide for the mounts with a dremel (carefully).

New at this forum stuff , but have a question, I have a 2016 magnum and am wanting to add a passengers backrest , will the lock and ride backrest work and trim the fillers with a Dremel ? not wanting to remove them completely

The Vic fillers mount on the same posts that the fillers do so its one or the other...also you can't get to the lock latches to latch it down.

I was actually considering cutting mine like the metal ones that are out there and cutting the mount holes open so they could be snapped in and out but haven't got to it yet.

Wow. Don't seem to be many options for a backrest , let me know how the cutting goes if you decide to do yours. It looks like you can change the seat but who wants to spend 700 after buying a new bike , thanks for the help on this .

I ended up cutting the stock filler right above the antenna hole which is even with the lid and the saddlebag. The bottom attached with the 2 bolts and used 30 lb 2 way tape along the entire filler. Works well. 20151226_101728.jpg

Wow , looks good , so let me get this right , you have the lock and ride passenger backrest and to get it to lock down and be removable you had to cut the filler panels where you did ,
I take it you removed the fillers and cut with a Dremel I guess , where did you find the 30lb. Double sided tape ?

Yep. Lock and ride back rest w/rack. I used a hacksaw with fine blade. Worked fine as its only plastic. The tape is 3m brand. Got at Home Depot. You will see there is plenty of surface on the filler to hold it to fender. Just clean real good

Hey SDMike...I picked up my passenger backrest and was attempting to try your creative solution. However, I can't seem to figure out how to get the right side filler off the bike because of the antenna. Is there a way to unhook the antenna? Any help would be great!

The antenna unthreads from the base. Just grab by lower boot and unscrew then can remove filler
