john was 100% correct...the writing was on the wall...I can't say I saw it coming...because I was not looking...

Remember when all the Victory Line of jackets went on sale for 1/2 price? Now you know why....

He has a good perspective, and I hope he stays true to his promises to support Victory bikes. I know he is into the Indian stuff too which makes perfect sense from a business standpoint, and I would understand if thats where the focus is. Remember Polaris said they had plans for Victory and that it wasn't going anywhere while behind closed doors planning to pull the plug. I hope Witch doctors and the rest aren't feeding us a line just to help clear out inventory.

My biggest worry though is that if I do need a part, and it has to be OEM, how long do I have to wait? Anything more than a week or so for an OEM part I don't consider reasonable, and if I'm waiting weeks or months for a part, then that is not supporting the bikes for 10 years. Especially during riding season.

I hope he and all the other aftermarket people make some nice clean accessories for the bikes. A lot of the non-Vic stuff out there is too skull and crossbones for my taste.

I think he is dead wrong on resale and trade value though.

Regarding OEM parts, there is a thread here ? on VOG or maybe there (another site) that the OP has or had been waiting for a right saddle bag for replacement due to an accident and he had been waiting several months (?). The whole lack of factory support has been part of what I think has hampered Vic sales. Vic themselves source parts from other manufacturers. Going forward I don't see Vic (ok, Polaris) or those other manufacturers putting several years worth of inventory that may or may not sell in their warehouses when they will be paying tax yearly on inventory..not gonna happen. I'd include Jon in that as well, he deals in smaller margins and a whole lot fewer gross dollars that Polaris. So, you may have to wait longer than a week for OEM parts. Just my opinion.

Jon does make some great points, but I ordered my replacement TB adapter (yes, with o rings) and a replacement belt yesterday anyway. I'm not lookin' to hate myself later when the price on these "unique to model" parts double in price or, like stilcrazee said, can't be easily acquired. Only 22K on so I'll be throwing MY leg over for quite a while yet ! Just wish I was ready buy, these Magnum deals are extremely tempting.

Your right, probably, unfortunately. Not being able to ride for several months because you can't get parts is not "support."

I don't know Jon, but we have no way to know if he and these other guys won't pull a Polaris on us.
