Doing Business on the Web??

Now days everything is done via the web. Its hard sometimes to know exactly who you are dealing with. It does not take much to throw up a website and make it look good. What happened to good old fashion "customer service"? Standing behind your product with support. Wouldnt it be nice to be able to talk to someone ... to answer questions? Most sites now days do not even do that much.

Would you really do buisness with a site that does not give you a physical address??? or even a phone number to call with a simple question??
I would think that would raise a flag... it would in my book.

The question is if a company takes the time to make a website and make it look professional, why would they not atleast give you a way to contact.... besides an email.

Even paypal will give you a physical address when a transaction is to be completed. Ebay may not give you a physical address.... but they have a rating score so you can see what type of person you are dealing with atleast.

What about the companys that open mutltiple sites , sell the same stuff and hide behind the screen. The reason... simple.... When they piss off one person , it gives them another chance to get their business by changing their identity. Soon all ( or most )business will be done via the web. It cuts down the cost of having a big store front and having people visit their business. I feel their needs to be some sort of rating.... protection for the consumer to know exactly who he is doing business with, that way they will have the option to choose whether or not they want to do business with that person.

The way business is done is changing... more and more each day. Some say its getting better? Some say its for the worse? Eventually something has to give.. there will have to be some sort of BBB for the web.

Thanks for looking....
Mike
HMD

For almost a year now I've been asked to bring out a backrest to fill the gap left by Ma Vic after discontinuing theirs. I toyed with it for a long time, trying to think outside the box, as what Ma Vic leaves you to work with in this regard is, let’s say for lack of better words, meager at best.

Well, I'm happy to say I've finally put together my design. I could have easily copied the original Victory unit, but as I am not one to blatantly copy someone else's design, preferring to be innovative and improve on anything currently out there, I kicked it up a notch... or two even.

This backrest assembly is a two part affair, consisting of a permanent receiver base that mounts under your cowling. The top of the two rectangular receivers will sit just through your cowling, with only a small portion protruding. This portion will be completely finished, so the protrusions will be minimally noticeable. The backrest will drop into the receivers, and then secured by locking mechanism. The uprights will accommodate any of our existing Vision backrest racks (Retro, Winged V, and Inferno) and fit exactly as does the OEM rack.

Standard finishes will be gloss black powder coat and triple show chrome.
We will also be offering a special support for the receivers for use with a RACK ONLY. This support will slip into the receivers like the rest itself, but the height will be limited to the rack mounting location, allowing you to bolt a rack to it and fly it solo with nothing else sticking up above it. Of course if you get both the backrest and a support, you can change your rack from one unit to the other at will. There is nothing else out there like this, and it offers versatility like nothing else.

The upholstery will be top notch just like our seat work, and will not have bumps, ripples, or crooked stitching like is so often seen on lesser products. If you're unfamilair with our upholstery work please visit our site here to see many examples: http://www.cycleopsusa.com/customupholstery.html. And of course, we're also be able to do a custom seat for you and make the backrest to match it.

Here are a few CAD renderings of what's coming. Do note I have made some slight detail mods. The racks will sit inside the uprights and not outside like in some of the pics here, and the mounting plate has been modified (see these updated details in pic 1).
Pricing will be made avialable as soon as we build the first one shortly and have all our costs hammered out.
Hope you like it.

The blue shape at the bottom in this pic is to simulate the cowling in place and the red shows the approximate receiver position coming up through it.

For those who don’t know much about my company CycleOps USA, we’re a family run company consisting of myself and my wife.

All our parts that we make are made proudly right here in the USA, and we’re very proud of that. I run the shop and store, and my wife Vicky aptly tackles the backend and website to make sure all flows smoothly. We do not claim to make the most parts available or that we’re in any way the biggest, but we do proudly claim that we offer the best quality available, be it in fitment, design, function, and of course the fantastic finishes you hear about posted on the ‘net.

As for chrome, ours is unsurpassed as when we say ‘Show Chrome’, we don’t slyly mean just triple chrome. The difference is the labor and buffing in between plating layers, giving our chrome not only a better bond which eliminates pitting and peeling, but also in our chrome’s velvety smooth show quality look.

In 5 years in business and with all the chrome we’ve shipped out, NEVER have we had to replace a defective or deteriorating chrome finish.

Is it more expensive? Sure. But, it’s more expensive to replace a part due to finish deterioration so in the long run more is actually less. I challenge you to find better true triple show chrome like we offer.

We try to make our parts innovative and stylish, and always keep function a main priority as well, not to mention we do not settle for second best in materials and methods as well as when it comes to finishes.

All of our parts are CAD designed by myself from fitment measurements and concept development, to final 3D renderings, not to mention the prep sanding, assembly, polishing, and packing. This gives me total control of every part we make from start to finish and assures you your parts are handled only by someone who cares from beginning to end.

We do not make parts to meet price points, as that only leads to cutting a corner or two to meet a targeted goal. Instead, I build the best part possible with the best available finishes and the price falls where it does.

The contractors I use for machining, welding, and finishing are some the best available in the USA. A large part of our business is doing one off custom parts from custom engravings on our existing wedge and engine cover offerings to exotic finishes such as 24K gold, candy powder coats, and so much more.

I thank you for reading my first blog ever, and hope you enjoy the ones to come in the future. I will be taking you through the processes we use to make our parts, and I think afterwards you’ll gain a better understanding of what, and who, we are.

Customer service ........a dying practice? Not at HMD. At HMD we strive to help our customers with their questions on parts, as well as their installations.

I have alot of customers that have asked questions from A to Z. Their is nothing wrong with asking a question..... how else will you learn anything?
We try to respond to customer emails in a timely manner. Sometimes you might find that i can email you instantly, other times it might take a little while to get back to you( no more than a day ).

Most the time when you call HMD.... you will find me answering the phone.. Yes i answer the phone. In this day age everything has become an internet or automated based business. Almost impossible to get through to talk to a real person. I believe in old school values when it comes to customer service. I believe you need to be able to reach the person selling the product in one form
or another. There is just something comforting about being able to talk to someone on the phone about your questions or concerns.

I have had customers call me on a saturday evening, and not leave a message. I return the call and the customer says " wow ... cant believe you called back".
"I have been trying to install your link and im stuck".....my response was " just do these simple changes and it should work out fine". Twenty minutes later they were riding their bike with the new part installed. I try to keep the parts i design simple and easy for the average Joe to install. Its fine if you have the dealer install the parts as well.

No matter how many parts we make.... you will always be able to reach me in one form or another. Thats where the integrity of a business begins.... customer service.

Thanks for looking....
Mike

I want to tell you about some exciting new features on our website. The "New Products" page and the "inventory levels" section in the product description.

The new products page has always been there but I have had some people ask "How long does a product stay there and how often is it updated?" I have just added a feature where the most recent new product displays First the second most recent second and so on. A new product will stay on the page for about 30 days and then be moved into is respective category in the main part of the website. The page is updated almost daily or as we introduce a new product. So far this month I think we have brought out about 12 new products and hope to add about 12-15 more in the next day or two! So if you want to see whats new make sure to check back often!

The inventory level now displays in the product description section. We added this feature in response to customers calling and asking if something was in stock before they ordered it. When you click on an item that you want more information on you will now see "Status" listed.
http://buywitchdoctors.com/p/1556/victory-motorcycle-parts-products-buywitchdoctors-black-wings-master-cylinder-sc-36/

The status will tell you how many are in stock at that time. If no status is visible it is probably because that particular item is drop shipped or else may be a custom order. Keep in mind that the inventory is close because someone may have ordered before you and the order has not yet been filled by us. If you see "back order" in the status section we may be out of stock but it is probably on order or we are making it. Most back ordered items will be in stock again in less than 2 weeks. We suggest in the case of a back ordered item you still place the order to be assured you get one as soon as we get the inventory in. Some products sell faster than we can make them!

I hope this helps you navigate our website www.buywitchdoctors.com

A member brought up the question of "which brake pads do I need?" so I thought i would offer what I know about it. I also posted this in the forum but thought more may wonder the same thing and not see it in the original post.

We sell both brands so I'll help you with what I know.

Both pads work very well. Both will squeal BUT customers report less squealing with the EBC. As far as dust- both will make some dust. Lyndall are a harder pad which means more dust but in heavy or aggressive riding Lyndalls are reported to stop better. In most cases the reason the "Dust" is hard to get off is because it contains tiny metal particles that stick to the wheel. Ever see cars going down the road with orange front wheels and the rear look normal? Thats brake dust that has turned to rust causing the orange rusty color. Normal washing will not clean it off- thats why they make wheel cleaner that has an acid type cleaner in it.

We sell an equal amount of Lyndall VS EBC. Customers also report that both last about the same length of time but of course it depends how you ride, aggressive, carry extra weight, city, highway etc. Same as how brakes would last in a car.

Lyndall describes them as "Racing" because they sell to many other makers than Victory. Lyndall is a racing type company and have their roots there. They make an awesome rotor for Victory too but its expensive! In my opinion they market their stuff as an aggressive pad that is used in racing. Kind of how Goodyear shows you a Nascar tire and that the "Technology learned on the track helps your everyday car on the road."

In My opinion, for an everyday rider ho basically drives to work and around town with no crazy tendencies then I would go with EBC. EBC are also a tiny bit cheaper as well.

Use coupon code VOG and save 10% too! We carry pads for every model Victory and they are also in stock.

http://buywitchdoctors.com/c/195/victory-motorcycl...
