Belles,
Thanks for the note. I will check out the site as I'm always looking to meet up with fellow riders....and Victory Riders sounds pretty good as well.

Hi Phoenix.. you should let us know when you're up for a ride. We live over in Gilbert and ride sometimes with the Victory riders here. I see you like playing soccer.. my husband played for Australia when he was a young guy.. he's almost 50, but would still like to play in the old guys league someday. Last time he did that, he came home with a cracked rib and a concussion.. hmmm. I think motorcycle riding is safer
We have a riding group called Canyon Cruisers.. our rides are small, we are newly forming but if you ever want to join us register at http://www.meetup.com/Canyon-Cruisers-Motorcycle-G...
See you on the road! Belles
I'll definitely keep you posted. If you click the link, join the group, whenever rides are put on the calendar you can choose to join them or not. We're doing a charity poker ride this Friday and then onto AZ Bike week. Our groups are small, sometimes it's just me and John (my husband), but we don't care.. we just go! We're planning a trip to monument valley and Winslow in a couple weeks. I've never been there and can't wait! This past weekend, we went to Strawberry - great ride, the snow is gone, but it was still a bit cool. I can't complain though!

davelau,
Thanks so much for your help. I have the HD plug in mic communication for my wife and I and it sucks. It's push to talk and the speakers crackle and pop when they're in use. I think I will go with the Scala like you. Thanks so much once again.
In regards to your questions about the Scala Q2, here is what I know from my research: #1-Once you disable the VOX, then to initiate a conversation or call all you need to do is hit the button on the side of the unit. #2-The Q2 will work just fine on an open face helmet because it has a boom microphone with noise/wind cancelation and from I have heard from others it works excellent. #3-As for having an "open party line" it will not do that. I have asked Scala corp and they have told me that you can have a link to your passenger and a link to another rider, but they can only talk to you and they cannot talk to each other.....it is confusing to me as to why that is the case but that is what they are telling me. #4-The only way to have an unlimited open line with longer range is to buy the Chatterbox X1Bluetooth which is insanely expensive (~$350-400 just for one unit). You can buy the Scala Q2 Multiset (2 units in one box) off e-bay for about $235-250 and they work well for their abilities. Personally I think that is what I am going to buy and use with my wife or another rider until the manufacturers can figure out this wireless technology better. I think they will make huge strides with this product over the next 1-3 years but I need something now to bridge the gap and the Scala Q2 seems like the head of the pack at this time.
Hello. One more question about the Scala Q2. If you turn off the VOX, (voice activation), how do you then communicate? Is it then push to talk? I ask because I have an open face helmet.
Also, if several of us go out and buy this in a group, is there a channel that all riders can switch to so that everyone can speak with each other?
Thanks,
I had seen that video before. My wife just does not feel comfortable with the small backrest that is on the bike now. I found a rear trunk on Ebay and as soon as we get through mud season up here in Maine I'm going to put it on. Hope it will fit as planned...

Scott,
Running through the site I saw your comment to another rider about the tour pak for the Kingpin but didn't want to have it on all the time. I just saw this video on youtube the other day and thought this may be a perfect item for you. It is a demo video from a dealer in Prescott AZ, but it looks like you can get the parts online at Kewlmetal.com. Here is the link:
