Broke my Hammer

So I installed the Tach upgrade last week on my 2012 hammer 8 ball. Today I noticed the speedo and tach was vibrating more than normal when ideling. So on closer examination I noticed there are four bolts that hold the bracket to the triple tree. Two underneath and two in the front through the cable loom. The two on the front that also holds the cable loom the screws go into some sort of rubber anti vibration bushing, I guess I over tightened it and one of the rubber anti vibration mount-isolator part number 5412297 is split into two pieces.

I hope this is the only thing broke and needs replacing but i won't know until i take it apart. I was hoping maybe someone here has some experiance with this? Is it easy to replace? Am I going to have to order it from Victory or do you think Auto Zone or some where else in town might have something like a suitable sub that will work?

There were no directions with the tach upgrade kit so I am thinking I over tourqued it. Funny thing is I don't remember even seeing this when i installed it I thought I just installed two bolts right into the triple tree but I can plainly see the rubber isolations mount things looking at it i think they have pulled away from the triple tree almost an inch.
I thought the 2012's just needed a Flash to activate the tach already in the speedo.

You don't even need a flash..Yes the digital tach is part of the speedo but my 48 year old eyes can't see those numbers very well when your hitting red line plus I didn't know about the digital tach till after I upgraded LOL. The digital numbers are pretty small on the speedo I wanted the nice big analog tach plus I think the Hammer looks better with both.

Completely agree with everything you said.

I recently added a tach to an 04 KP. It came with new rubber isolators saying to replace the old ones because the stock isolators aren't strong enough to handle the weight of both gauges. On the new bikes they may come with the new isolators already installed. I dunno. Or maybe your bike somehow has the older/weaker isolators.

Did it come with new ones?

Intresting, My Tach didn't come with any new isolators but I saw on one web site a picture of a upgrade kit that did. So I had to use the stock ones that were holding up a single speedo frame and now one broke. I thought maybe I over tightened it but maybe not. I will still be careful not to over tighten the new ones I just ordered. Do you know if the isolators just pull out of the triple tree or unscrew? The drawing makes it hard to understand just how they stay in the triple tree and just how they hold anything to it. Maybe as you install the bolt the backend spreads out? I do not know because as I said I used the stock ones that were already installed.
The rubber isolators simply screw right into the top triple tree. I used some channel locks to tighten it a bit but not too much and and just tightened the bolts that go into them to hold on the speedo/tack mount us usual. I didn't use any Loctite yet. I'll keep an eye on them but the old bolts and isolator didn't have any Loctite on it.

I figured the new bikes already have the new isolators but maybe not. Sounds like a good question for your dealership or maybe one of our forum techs like KevinX.

Update: I fixed it. Replaced both isolators. Do not use any locktight. When I took off the tac/speedo bracket the rubber all fell off the broken isolators there was no way to grab and unscrew the broken mount isolators. I had to use a common screwdriver and hit it with a hammer on the edge to start it unsrewing then just press with thumb and unscrew. If you locktight them in you may never get a broken one out so I wouldn't use it ever on them.

P.S. Do not over tighten them. Snug and a little more is all.
