Opinion's Please - KP Thigh Heat Shield

I'm making a thigh heat shield and this is my preliminary cut. It's bolted in under the tank bolt w/large washer and is made with 13 oz tooling cowhide. It has no die or finish on it yet. My question is about how it looks and do you think anyone else might want something like this for their KP/Vegas/Jackpot/Hammer for the Summer months when some bikes are tuned a bit lean with the Stage 1 Victory flash. Thanks in advance to all.

That is really neat! if it were black or color matched it would be even better!

I like it. Innovative - looks like it would work well. Dye that puppy black - Winner!

I agree dye it black and it is good to go.

Thanks guys. All comments are welcome for sure. I did a test ride with them today and really hammered the bike so it would get to that hot point that hurts and it did ok but not exactly where it needs to be. The side panels will need to be taller. Maybe even tuck in under the tank a bit to really direct that heat further back but I'm definitely on the right track in the direction I'm going with them. Rather than start from scratch since this is a test product; I'll simply add to it with rivets or something equally easy to use in this phase of product development. I can say it was a good 50% better than it was but of course that isn't good enough. I'm going for 100% better and have a pretty good idea on how to proceed. By the way. I will be making the final pattern available to all. It takes some know-how to make anything out of leather so I figure that those who have the leather and tools should know how to make it given the pattern and dimensions. I will ask that no one take the pattern and make a profit with it please. That's my job. laugh

Agreed. Deal. A great idea - very useful. Thx!!!

Obviously, you're a thinker and a problem solver.

Header wrap would be easier, effective, and you could hide it under the heat shields...

Anyhoo... is the heat that bad on your bike? I have 60K miles on a Kingpin and I never noticed my thigh getting hot...

I thought about doing that to both header pipes and I may still do it.

Yes. Of the two 04 KP's I have right now; this one gets painfully hot. The other one is okay. I figure it's a California bike with the leaner CA flash done to it causing the extra heat. Another option is to get a tuner that will work with this stage 1 flash. Do you know of any? Seems like most the ones I've looked at say you have to go back to a stock flash before they will work.

Are your "X" versions made for Cross Country Tour?  Cross = X?

How do these install?  Do you have Pictures of the installation process?

I live in Canada... how do I get one?  Whats the hang-up about sending stuff to Canada, if I may be so bold to ask?

I'd like to get a set... Black on Black for my 2012 Cross Country Tour.
