Fuel tank removal
Ok, I did a search and didn't see anything on the removal of the XC fuel tank.

I know if it isn't removed or installed correctly you risk breaking the end of the fuel pump.

After getting half way thru the removal and seeing it I understand.

My question is the connector , how is it removed, push one side, both sides, is it usually hard to pull off?
I just don't want to break it. How high can the fuel tank go without causing problems?

Be careful with the plastic elbow coming off the fuel pump. If it isn't facing to the rear so it lines up with the opening in the frame you can bust it off when you put the tank back.

My bike has a big sticker on the tank (hidden by the seat) saying be sure to lift the tank Before pulling rearward to avoid damage to the lines.

Make the best decision with what you know and don't look back! Go for it.

Just pulled mine to install the Ipod cable, it's almost too easy. If anyone has questions send me a message I'll be glad to help.

make sure both clips snap back on, or you fuel line will fall off on the road and spew fuel all over! ( yes i know from doing it) oops

Oops is right. It snapped in good putting it back on and I ran the fuel pump to check for leaks.

Actually the "elbow" is on the fuel line. What happens is when you pull the tank back, the fuel line and elbow rotates to the side of the pump. When you set the tank back down, if you don't rotate the elbow and line pointing rearward, the elbow hits the frame and snaps the nipple off of the fuel pump. Don't ask me how Iknow this but it will cost you $300+ just in parts for a new updated pump and fuel line.
