Have had a major setback in my recovery.

I killed my therapist.

Ruby were on a usual walk around the block it usually took us an hour.

Well on Tuesday we were on the sidewalk across from the High School I used to take Ruby across the street at this point to run on a power cut adjacent to the ball fields We have not done this since my surgery because the uneven ground is uncomfortable for me post surgery.

I stopped to light a Cigar and I heard a car braking hard.

Ruby stepped face first into a moving cars front end. The driver never saw her he stopped hard about 25 feet after the impact.

My best friend was silent motionless except for breathing I directed traffic as a witness called 911. The driver asked what he could do ? I told him Nothing it was my fault I told him to go because his car was obstructing traffic.

The Police never came an animal control van arrived we put Ruby in and travled several miles to the Animal Hospital.

Ruby expired in route.

Ruby is my Donna's baby I had to call and tell her I killed her.

We have had a very rough 7 or 8 months but this is unbearable .

I wish the car had hit me instead of our beloved Boxer.

We still have Sabel Ruby's little sister I will never take her on that walk it will be the Dog park or our property.

I still can't believe this has happened Ruby was a very good girl always great on a leash never pulled or prior to this left the sidewalk.

I am starting to think I'm cursed.

Sorry to hear about Ruby. That's terrible. We had to put my boxer (Duke) down about 2 years ago. I still miss the guy. He was truely my best friend. I know the pain well. Slowly the pain will go away but you always have the fond memories.

WOW man, i was expecting to hear you sliped a disk or something from your V time fun.

You and your family are in our thoughts as you cross this difficult path.

I have my Oso <bear> a 2 year old black lab that goes every where with me when im not working. He is one of the best behaived dogs ive ever had or seen and the misses always says hes like a son. Hes always tring to be a real boy.

Once i get a bike i know it will be hard to not be able to take him with me. He knows my work schedule and is fine when i goto work but pouts when i leave and dont take him otherwise.

I hope as the days pass you can ease your pain, understand that its not all your fault. Like you said Ruby never did that before so you had to reason to think of that when doing what you were doing.
I know it doesnt make it any easier man but you cant put all the blame on yourself, it will only make you fearfull, and regretfull, and unable to accept forgivness or help from those who love you when you need it most.

Very sorry to hear Trek. As a dog lover I dont know what to say, I am preparing to put my Boxer down in the next few weeks and it is tough. Cant imagine how you feel.

^ That post almost made it sound like I knew what I was talking about.

Mate I hope the rehab goes well and you make a full recovery.

Also, I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. Don't blame yourself, just love your other Boxer just as much as you loved Ruby.

Take care and heal fast.

Good Luck with the rehab, and enjoy the ride down.

My wife's dog Lexi walked me through the rehab of a 22' rock climbing fall, also Lumbar spine (2,3, & 4), but I havent gotten up the guts for corrective surgery yet. In my defense I will admit that the sharp stabbing pain is a rarity and only hangs on for a day or two before going away for weeks.

Lexi? You didn't happen to meet your wife in San Diego by any chance did you. I knew a lady there who had a Blue Dobie named Lexi.

Very sorry to hear about your dog but don't let it affect your recovery.

I have major back problems (L3,4,5 have multiple buldges and tears) and my neck (C2,3,4) are already fused. I've been watching this thread to see how your recovery is going because I am have been trying to get surgery for 3 years. I have two problems that are getting in the way; I was given shots before my neck surgery that should have lasted 60 to 90 days and my body burned through them in 3 hours - and I have been going to a pan management clinic that knows they'll get less visits if surgery is approved. I'm sick of taking the meds and getting treated like a criminal (random whiz quizzes) but know shots are useless so I have to deal with it until thy're tired of seeing me.

Basically if your surgery works and cuts the pain by 50% or more I would be more than willing to go through it too!

I know exactly what you are saying I have been on schdual one narcotics for a few years I had the whole Pain Managment thing Piss tests lectures about using the drugs.

I had epidurals about 4 or 5 times the first lasted months and then less and less.

I got tired of the being treated like a criminal to so I opted for surgery. the night I woke up after surgery I knew the herniation and the shooting leg pains were gone.

Now I'm dealing with what feels like a hand is holding my spine above my pelvis.
It has been improving I'm down to one Endocett a day usually mid day when I'm tired of ignoring it,the grip on my spine.

I can walk, vaccume move light items around.

Bending is a no no, I can't walk at my usual stride my left leg is restricted gives me a funny gait.

All that said I still prefer it to tottaly random searing pain down my left leg.

If you can find a good Nerusurgon then I would say do the surgery I'm 49 and glad I did not put this off any longer because the rehab will take a while.

Thanks everyone for the support

LOL, nope. My wife heard me saying I was going to have to re-write the National Director's deposition notes because it was in the wrong "Lexicon" for a security official and we had just gotten a Cane Corso bitch pup, hence the convoluted segue of Lexicane-Corso, Lexi.

My wife did own a home near Richmond, CA and was a PT at Oakwood Athletic during the 90s though.

Sorry about your buddy Chris, and the thread hijack. Best of Luck with the rehab. My experience is that when this dark cloud passes you by (like it did me after 3 yrs of miserable luck), everyday is twice as bright and cheerful.
